At the time I was assisting my father in the family group, but I felt the need to do something exclusively of my own, different from the world of engines. FERRUCCIO LAMBORGHINI Ferruccio Elio Arturo Lamborghini, nació el 28 de abril de 1916 en Renazzo di Cento, una pequeña provincia de Ferrara, Italia. Hijo de agricultores, cursó estudios de técnica industrial. Durante la II Guerra Mundial sirvió en un destacamento de transporte donde se hizo cargo del mantenimiento de los camiones. Finalizada la guerra comienza a comprar sobrantes de vehículos militares para convertirlos en maquinaria agrícola. Lo reconocían como una persona adinerada y un excelente fabricante de tractores, sistemas de unidades calentadoras y máquinas de aire acondicionado. El fabricante italiano decidió crear la empresa Lamborghini, con el objetivo de generar competencia a Enzo Ferrari. Todo comenzó después de la segunda guerra mundial, cuando un hombre adquirió un carro deportivo Ferrari, en el cual observó que había componentes del embrague que eran iguales a los que él usaba en sus tractores; además de eso, su Ferrari estaba presentando algunos fallos. From the creative flair of Marcello Gandini to the Bauhaus of the new millennium: automobile styling shapes Italian design history The Lamborghini Technical Department, made up of a team of more than 250 professional engineers, creative designers and model-makers, holds the brand’s most precious secrets and contributes with the company’s other offices to the design and production of the best sellers launched in recent years by the House of the Bull. These departments and offices work together in synergy in a process that begins with the first line drawn on drafting tables and continues right through to starting the engine mounted in the first production car, all performed at the Sant’Agata Bolognese production facility. The concepts for new models are developed by the Technical Department’s Style Center, which was renewed in 2004 and is the driving force behind the cars created first by Peruvian-Belgian designer Luc Donckerwolke (who led the Style Center until 2005), followed in recent years by the models developed by the team led now by Filippo Perini since. And to judge from sales figures and the critical success of new generation Lamborghini cars, it has clearly been a very successful strategy. Automobili Lamborghini’s first foray into the market was the presentation at the 1963 Turin Motor Show of the 350 GTV, created by visionary designer Franco Scaglione and produced in aluminium by coach-builder Sargiotto. TC Newman has the details: Bonham’s auction house lists the Lamborghini as follows: It is the stuff of legend that Ferrari-owning industrialist Ferruccio Lamborghini only turned to automobile manufacture as a result of receiving off-hand treatment at Maranello, vowing to build a better car. A successful manufacturer of tractors and related machinery, Lamborghini possessed the resources to realise his dream without having to compromise. Lamborghini’s first production car, the Touring-styled 350GT, debuted at the 1963 Turin Motor Show with deliveries commencing in the spring of 1964. The work of two of Italy’s most illustrious automobile designers, the 350GT featured a glorious 3.5-litre, four-cam V12 designed by Giotto Bizzarrini, housed in a chassis penned by engineer Gianpaolo Dallara, formerly with Ferrari and Maserati. This state-of-the-art power unit produced 270bhp (DIN), which was good enough for a top speed in excess of 150mph. The 350GT’s four camshafts and all-independent suspension meant that it upstaged the best that Ferrari offered at the time, but to compete with his Maranello rival’s larger models Lamborghini needed a four- seater, and the 400GT 2+2 duly appeared in 1966. A development of the 350GT, the newcomer used an enlarged – to 3,929cc – V12. This 4.0-litre unit had first appeared in 1965, finding its way into a handful of late 350GTs, this interim model being known as the 400GT.

Perhaps the decision to arrive in Lamborghinis was taken to cheer up the stunning Maggie Q, who in a scene in the film is asked by Tom Cruise to blow up the supercar.
