This is where we gather from. A wide range of design experience, the senior, junior and student brainstorms together about the most appropriate concept of 'rehabilitation and reconstruction' for the people of Aceh. Although actually we all haven’t experience at all dealing with the scale of the disaster that almost 100% destruction with the victims more than 200 thousand people. The architects been 'forced' not to think in the oretical perspective. Architect used to think the employer (the project) is ultimately the client should be 'dismantled' and flipped 180 degrees.

Architects became the facilitator indeed, who listened to the problems and hopes of survivors at the hard times. Sleeping in refugee camps, integrate themselves as part of the Tsunami survivors and eventually we all became friends and relatives. This approach, 'working together' is a new method and makes us understand that in fact we as the architects, still have to learn a lot of community groups (community).

Since we finished working together in Aceh with 23 village communities to BACKGROUND rehabilitate and reconstruct lives, we think that the empirical experience should not be abandoned. Finally, we, the individuals architect who had the same idea and agreed to forward the understanding of thought on how to look at a problem in the community (in any) by way of Aceh, that is the Community Working Together to fully involve the participation of the community.

Five years after Tsunami, one by one volunteer personnel who helped UPLINK work in Aceh been able to work independently. Starting on mid-2007, exactly in July 2007, we refer us as the Community Architect Group Yogyakarta (ARKOMJOGJA). Yogyakarta be an option because at that time some of us were asked to help the Reconstruction Program in Bantul Earthquake by UPLINK. We spread out our work not only in Yogyakarta, but also in Jakarta, Surabaya, Tasikmalaya, Padang Pariaman, Kendari and Makassar.
