That’s not to say we were unprepared of course—our NEWSLETTER OF TEAM BANZAI offices wouldn’t pass muster with the Institute if we started flailing like turtles on our backs at the first sign of a global emergency. World Watch One has essentially STAFF operated as a network of work-from-home offices since the newsletter was revived Dan “Big Shoulders” Berger in 2004. In short, we were built for this particular flavor of catastrophe.     ‘OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS’ CAST BIOS DIXIE CARTER (Evie Baer) – Emmy ®-nominated actress Dixie Carter is one of America’s most beloved entertainers. A proud daughter of Tennessee, Carter has arguably created some of the most memorable strong Southern female characters in television history. Her celebrated portrayal of the daring design darling Julia Sugarbaker on the long-running hit series “Designing Women” made her instantly recognizable. The series also allowed the producers to showcase her formidable vocal talents, a gift she continues to share with her fans through sold-out concerts across the country.     ‘MATCHMAKER SANTA’ CAST BIOS LACEY CHABERT (Melanie) - Lacey Chabert is best known for her role as Claudia on the Golden Globe® Award-winning FOX television series “Party of Five.” Chabert was seen in Warner Brother’s “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” opposite Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey. She received outstanding reviews and an MTV Movie Award for her role in the box office hit “Mean Girls” from director Mark Waters. She also starred as Anjelica Huston’s daughter in “Daddy Day Care” and as Brooke Ellison in Christopher Reeve’s final directorial project, “The Brooke Ellison Story” for A&E. She most recently starred opposite Gena Rowlands in “What If God Were The Sun” for Lifetime. Originally from Purvis, Mississippi, Chabert got her big break on the Broadway stage playing young Cosette in Les Misérables. In 1998, she made her feature film debut as Penny Robinson in “Lost in Space.” On television, Chabert has appeared in “All My Children” as well as several made-for-TV movies, including “Gypsy” starring Bette Midler, “A Little Piece of Heaven” with Cloris Leachman and the Hallmark Channel Original Movie “Elevator Girl.” She has also voiced numerous animated films and TV shows, including “The Wild Thornberrys.” ### DONOVAN SCOTT (Chris) - Donovan Scott studied at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco and then went on to join the Comedia Del Arte’ Troup, where he eventually became the Artistic Director.     ‘FIXING PETE’ CAST BIOS BROOKE BURNS (Ashley) – Brooke Burns, host of Oxygen Network‘s ―Hair Battle Spectacular,‖ was born in Dallas, TX. The middle child of three siblings, her mother encouraged her from a young age to pursue her dream, which, since kindergarten, was to become a ballerina. As a teenager, she showed great promise as a professional ballet dancer, but her career was abruptly ended at age 14 after a ski accident. She is a natural athlete and a talented swimmer, having been trained by her father, a former national champion swimmer at Southern Methodist University. Burns got into acting in 1996, when she played Peg in the TV series ―Out of the Blue.‖ She went on to guest star in several episodes of ―Ally McBeal‖ and then moved on to play Jessie Owens in ―Baywatch.‖ Burns broke onto the silver screen when she acted opposite Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow in ―Shallow Hal.‖ She also played Jan Lambert in ―Single White Female 2: The Psycho‖ alongside Allison Lange and Todd Babcock. Burns also played Kathy Dinkle in ―Pepper Dennis‖ and starred in ―Urban Decay.‖ For two summer seasons in 2002 and 2003, Burns hosted the American version of the ―Dog Eat Dog‖ game show, for which she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award. Burns starred in the ABC comedy ―Miss/Guided,‖ opposite Chris Parnell (―Saturday Night Live‖) and Judy Greer. The series was created by Caroline Williams (―The Office‖), produced by Ashton Kutcher and helmed by Emmy® Award-winning director Todd Holland (―Malcolm in the Middle‖). Burns also shot ―Mistresses,‖ a pilot for Lifetime and is currently developing and producing a show for Oxygen.

    ‘OLIVER’S GHOST’ CAST BIOS MARTIN MULL (Clive) – Well known for his roles in “Rosanne,” “Ellen,” “Two and a Half Men” and “Clue,” actor and comedian Martin Mull has made himself a household name with his extensive career among Hollywood’s leading actors. Born in Chicago and raised in Ohio and Connecticut, funnyman Mull planned to become a painter when he enrolled in the Rhode Island School of Design. Although he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters in painting, Mull’s uncanny talent for stand-up comedy and satire led him to a career as a nightclub comedian, and eventually led to roles on television and film. Mull’s first role was on the nighttime absurdist soap opera “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” in which his character was impaled by a Christmas tree, only to be brought back as that character’s twin brother. That led to spin-off talk shows “Fernwood Tonight” and “America 2-Night,” where Mull shared the screen with Fred Willard. Other television credits include a guest role on “The Golden Girls,” a long-running role as the gay boss of the lead character on “Roseanne,” starring Roseanne Barr, the CBS sitcom “Domestic Life” and “Gary Unmarried.” He has had series regular roles on “The Ellen Show,” opposite Ellen DeGeneres, “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch,” “Family Dog,” “The Jackie Thomas Show,” “Two and a Half Men,” “’Til Death” and, most recently, “American Dad!” His recent guest star credits include roles on “Eastwick,” “Reno 911,” “Just Shoot Me,” “Life With Bonnie,” “Less Than Perfect,” “Reba,” “My Boys,” “Mad Love” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” He also appeared as a guest star on the popular game show “Hollywood Squares,” appearing as the center square during the show’s final season in 2004.

It enabled the visual realisation of concepts and ideas that would otherwise have been, in practical and logistical terms, too risky, expensive or plain impossible to capture, re-present and reproduce on film according to so-called “conventional” motion-picture recording techniques and devices. Since then, VFX – in conjunction with their respective techno-visual means of re-production – have gradually become utterly indispensable to the array of practices, techniques and tools commonly used in filmmaking as such. For the Hollywood cinema industry, comprehensive VFX applications have not only motivated the expansion of commercial filmmaking praxis. They have also influenced the evolution of viewing pleasures and spectatorship experiences. Following the digitisation of their associated technologies, VFX have been responsible for multiplying the strategies of re-presentation and story-telling as well as extending the range of stories that can potentially be told on screen. By the same token, the visual standards of the Hollywood film’s production and exhibition have been growing in sophistication.
