TITLE: TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS: Holds a valid Teaching license with the appropriate endorsement, for current assignment, issued by the State Board of Education.
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Creates an environment of safety, respect, and rapport.
2) Establishes a culture for learning.
3) Manages classroom procedures.
4) Manages student behavior.
5) Manages the classroom’s physical space.
6) Writes and utilizes short-term and long-term plans for instruction.
7) Plans activities of high quality in keeping with district adopted goals, standards, and curriculum.
8) Plans and develops goals and objectives to meet identified student outcomes.
9) Monitors student understanding and adjust plans based on student learning needs and styles.
10) Demonstrates skill in selection of various teaching techniques and instructional materials conducive to student learning.
11) Establishes classroom procedures that promote student learning and self discipline and adds to the realization of the student’s personal potential as a worthy citizen.
12) Holds high expectations of student learning and aligns curriculum to state standards.
13) Promotes respect and empathy among students of different socioeconomic, cognitive, and cultural backgrounds.
14) Establishes student objectives that promote student growth.
15) Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and materials necessary to the lesson and/or activity, including district and state adopted curriculum. 16) Makes use of alternative assessments (when appropriate) as well as traditional assessments.

17) Uses a grading system that is consistent, fair, and supportable.
18) Asses, records, and provides feedback to students on their progress and assignments in a timely manner.
19) Continues professional growth through the upgrading of skills and knowledge.
20) Communicates effectively, positively, and in a timely manner with school personnel, the public, and parents.
21) Collaborates effectively with students, parents, the public, teachers, administration, and other staff.
22) Acts in a discreet and professional manner when discussing students and/or school problems.
23) Writes and follows personal performance goals in accordance with Teacher Standards and Practices Commission’s Professional Development Plan (TSPC Division 90).
24) Maintains appropriate teacher-student relationships as outlined in the “Ethical Educator” (TSPC Division 20).
25) Follows their duties and responsibilities as set forth by the district’s Job Description.
26) Maintains regular attendance in order to preserve continuity.
27) Performs other duties as assigned by Principal and/or Supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified staff and in accordance with state evaluation requirements. I have read this position description and agree with its contents:
