<p> Coos Bay Public Schools</p><p>TITLE: TEACHER</p><p>QUALIFICATIONS: Holds a valid Teaching license with the appropriate endorsement, for current assignment, issued by the State Board of Education.</p><p>REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Supervisor </p><p>JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.</p><p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Creates an environment of safety, respect, and rapport.</p><p>2) Establishes a culture for learning.</p><p>3) Manages classroom procedures.</p><p>4) Manages student behavior.</p><p>5) Manages the classroom’s physical space. </p><p>6) Writes and utilizes short-term and long-term plans for instruction.</p><p>7) Plans activities of high quality in keeping with district adopted goals, standards, and curriculum.</p><p>8) Plans and develops goals and objectives to meet identified student outcomes.</p><p>9) Monitors student understanding and adjust plans based on student learning needs and styles.</p><p>10) Demonstrates skill in selection of various teaching techniques and instructional materials conducive to student learning.</p><p>11) Establishes classroom procedures that promote student learning and self discipline and adds to the realization of the student’s personal potential as a worthy citizen.</p><p>12) Holds high expectations of student learning and aligns curriculum to state standards.</p><p>13) Promotes respect and empathy among students of different socioeconomic, cognitive, and cultural backgrounds.</p><p>14) Establishes student objectives that promote student growth.</p><p>15) Utilizes a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and materials necessary to the lesson and/or activity, including district and state adopted curriculum. 16) Makes use of alternative assessments (when appropriate) as well as traditional assessments.</p><p>August 2009 Page 2 TEACHER PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (continued):</p><p>17) Uses a grading system that is consistent, fair, and supportable.</p><p>18) Asses, records, and provides feedback to students on their progress and assignments in a timely manner.</p><p>19) Continues professional growth through the upgrading of skills and knowledge.</p><p>20) Communicates effectively, positively, and in a timely manner with school personnel, the public, and parents.</p><p>21) Collaborates effectively with students, parents, the public, teachers, administration, and other staff.</p><p>22) Acts in a discreet and professional manner when discussing students and/or school problems.</p><p>23) Writes and follows personal performance goals in accordance with Teacher Standards and Practices Commission’s Professional Development Plan (TSPC Division 90). </p><p>24) Maintains appropriate teacher-student relationships as outlined in the “Ethical Educator” (TSPC Division 20).</p><p>25) Follows their duties and responsibilities as set forth by the district’s Job Description.</p><p>26) Maintains regular attendance in order to preserve continuity.</p><p>27) Performs other duties as assigned by Principal and/or Supervisor.</p><p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current schedule.</p><p>EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified staff and in accordance with state evaluation requirements.
