The second reading from Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans reminded us of why we are responsible for one another, namely, that we are bound by the law of love. Once again today, as we gathered to celebrate Mass, we were reminded that where two or three are gathered in Jesus’ name, he is in our midst. He is with us in each other, in addition to his Word and the Eucharist. Let us reflect upon this reality – that Jesus is to be found in all those we encounter on this week’s journey of life! This is going to be a busy week here in the parish! Our parish grade school will be in session for a full week. Yikes! We will welcome back our PREP students and parents on Monday afternoon as we gather to pray with them and for them as we begin another year of faith formation and education. Our school will celebrate its opening liturgy on Friday at 9AM in church. Also, beginning Monday, we will resume our regular Mass schedule with Masses at 7AM and 9AM Monday through Friday and on Saturdays at 9AM. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will resume on Monday from after the morning Mass until 4PM with a simple reposition of the Blessed Sacrament. As we begin our Jubilee Year, what a wonderful way to offer praise and thanks for the gift of our parish with a visit to the Blessed Sacrament exposed in our chapel. Next weekend we officially begin our Jubilee as we gather to celebrate our annual 40 Hours Devotions. We will begin this sacred time at the 11AM Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael Fitzgerald, an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Devotions each evening will begin at 7PM with Father John Stokely as our guest homilist! The solemn closing of our devotions will be on Tuesday evening at 7PM with Evening Prayer, Solemn Procession and Benediction. PLEASE PLAN to attend these opportunities of grace for the entire parish! Also, I invite you to spend private time before the Blessed Sacrament throughout the days and evenings. We are called to personally respond to Jesus’ question to his disciples – could you not spend one hour with me? As of this writing, we are expecting 25 priests to join us in this concluding prayer. Let us express appreciation for their presence and the abiding presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament by your presence on Tuesday evening. Now that we are back to our regular activities in the parish, the church doors on both sides of the narthex will remain open each weekday until 4:30 PM. This is for your convenience in visiting our church and spending time with the Lord. As our Jubilee Year begins, let us beg the intercession of our patron, Saint Robert Bellarmine, for an increase in Mass attendance in our parish and for the graces we need to respond generously to the will of the Lord in our lives. With prayers, 2nd Collection for the Relief of Eucharistic Adoration ~ Hurricane Harvey ~ The week- Adoration Resumes on Monday end of September 16th & 17th September 11th.
