Wine Masticha Wine Rakomelo Olive Oils Wine Ouzo Honey THE EARTH HAS MUSIC FOR THOSE WHO LISTEN For a lifetime I have travelled far and wide spreading the beauty of music. But today I’d like to take you on a different musical journey. One I have always wanted to share; The Glorious Music of Food. Demis Roussos For those who knew our father well, he was someone with a life-long passion for both music and distinctive food. They had always been for him the same art, the same passion. How many times had he secretly dreamt of exploring this passion of his, through selected culinary treasures of his land? ... Greece. Greece is a magical place, filled with sun drenched lands of the purest oil. It is an exceptionally abundant landscape brimming with healthy natural products full of delicious flavours which are harvested by friendly people who use methods that have been around for centuries and are deeply rooted in traditions with respect for the earth. It gives my brother and I great pleasure to have hand-selected these delicious natural products, which, just as our father’s musical instruments have been crafted by artisans who have taken their inspiration from the beauty and the energy of Greece and its ancient traditions. Our first DR family selection is an extra virgin olive oil, cold-pressed in Crete, in that same exact village where our great grandfather, Artemios, chose to leave for a few years prior his departure for Egypt. Our father have always been particularly fond of Crete, a Greek island south of the mainland where the famous Cretan diet, consisting of untainted products, has provided since ancient times the secret to a long and healthy life. Ambrosia. The food of the Greek gods, as a delicious reminder of the climate and nature of the soil and grape whose varieties brings us such diverse food and wines. Come and savour some as our dear Demis is for sure, now, toasting with Eros under the shade of an olive-tree. Emily and Cyril Roussos OUR DRA NATURAL PRODUCTS WINE RED DRY WINE VARIETAL ΒΙΟ CABERNET SAUVIGNON / MERLOT The slow maturation of the grapes into the sloping limestone soils in Nees Karyes Larissa, remaining for 1 year in oak barrels allows the wine to be expressed through its most characteristic and typical way. Explosively aromatic wine that make up a unique and intense bouquet, taste of dried fruit and vanilla, soft tannins and balanced acidity. Served at 18 - 20oC WINE WHITE WINE ΒΙΟ CHARDONNAY / SAUVIGNON BLANC The slow maturation of the grapes into sloping limestone soils in Nees Karyes, Larissa, allows the wine to be expressed through its most characteristic and typical way. Bright, pale yellow with greenish shades, intense fruity scent and distinctive acidity. It is a new dimension of wine quality, offering many gastronomic options. Served at 10 - 12oC WINE ROSÉ ΒΙΟ DRY ROSÉ WINE A rosé wine which would rather to be a red one. It is produced by the process of crushing from the tank where the grapes are in the preemulsion extraction stage. Rosé color with iodized shades. Fruity with rich floral scents. Distinctive acidity and fine aftertaste. Served at 10 - 12oC HONEY THYME & PINE Chania OLIVE OILS ORGANIC & PDO Messara Crete Our first DRA selected Olive Oil is a PDO and comes from Messara. The estates of Messara area benefits of a special microclimate for the cultivation and production of quality olive oil which is globally recognized. Oil PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) is subject to strict controls. Receiving a stamp approved by the serial number of the EU and the Greek authorities. It is characterized by a rich natural and fruity flavour, with an intense green color which with the maturation becomes golden green. All beneficial ingredients remain intact thanks to the special care of the crop during the olive harvest, the cold pressed method of produsing the olive oil and its storage. Our very special selected Chios Masticha liqueur is served cold and has a crystal clear colour and a sweet aroma. Mastic has been harvested for at least 2,500 years since Greek Antiquity. The first mention of actual mastic “tears” was by Hippocrates. Hippocrates used mastic for the prevention of digestive problems, colds and as a breath freshener. Roman emperors used mastic along with honey, pepper, and egg in the spiced wine conditum paradoxum. Digestive liqueurs, similar to Masticha but made with grapes, were known as the Greek elixirs before the French Revolution. The DRA distillery bottles Masticha in round shaped glass bottles of 500 ml, 200ml, 50ml OUZO THE FAMOUS GREEK APERITIF from Mytilene As Demis use to say : “In Greece, Ouzo drinking is a way of life, for certain people, an art”. Whatever it is, Greece, and in particular the island of Lesvos is known for it’s special quality of ouzo. Our DRA selected ouzo comes from Lesvos, also known as Mytilini and has been blended under long years of knowledge and experience, to reveal secrets from old recipes to flavour insiders. The DRA distillery bottles Ouzo in round shaped glass bottles of 500 ml, 200ml, 50ml RAKOMELO THE WARM AND SWEET DRINK fromCrete It’s balanced taste with the refreshing finish shows great affinity for Mediterranean cuisine, especially pasta dishes and fish with light sauces. Served at 8 - 10oC. The DRA distillery bottles Rakomelo in round shaped glass bottles of 500 ml, 200ml, 50ml TSIKOUDIA THE FAMOUS GREEK SPIRIT Crete Our DRA fine selected Tsikoudia comes from the eastern part of Crete where Demis’s grand-father, Artemios stayed prior his departure for Egypt. Tsikoudia is an alcoholic beverage, a fragrant, grape-based pomace brandy of Cretan origin that contains 25% to 32% alcohol by volume. Tsikoudia is made by distilling of pomace, that were pressed for the winemaking process. The pomace is kept for about six weeks after the grapes have been pressed, in a tightly-sealed barrel, and then the fermented mush is distilled. Our DRA Tsikoudia is a home-produced by our artisans, each year specifically during the two or three weeks in late October and early November. The DRA distillery bottles Raki (tsikoudia) in round shaped glass bottles of 500 ml, 200ml, 50ml STRAWBERRY CRETAN FRUIT RAKI-TSIKOUDIA Liqueur fromCrete Cretan Raki-Tsikoudia is an interesting light drink made from Raki infused with strawberry and a fresh taste ideal for the whole season Cretan Tsikoudia with Strawberry is a modern version of the traditional Rakomelon (Raki with honey) The Cretan strawberries, selected by the Roussos family each year in between May and October, are left to infuse for a long time, just as it was done in prime Cretan Raki, until their rich aroma and flavours are harmonically blended with the Raki. Cretan Tsikoudia with Strawberry is a light drink for those who want to enjoy a tsikoudia with less alcohol. Enjoy it hot or in a room temperature in the winter and cold or on the rocks during the summer. Mix it to create unique cocktails. YOUR O.A.T. ADVENTURE TRAVEL PLANNING GUIDE® Enhanced! Northern Greece, Albania & Macedonia: Ancient Lands of Alexander the Great 2022 Small Groups: 8-16 travelers—guaranteed! (average of 13) Overseas Adventure Travel ® The Leader in Personalized Small Group Adventures on the Road Less Traveled 1 Dear Traveler, At last, the world is opening up again for curious travel lovers like you and me. And the O.A.T. Enhanced! Northern Greece, Albania & Macedonia: Ancient Lands of Alexander the Great itinerary you’ve expressed interest in will be a wonderful way to resume the discoveries that bring us so much joy. You might soon be enjoying standout moments like these: As I explored the monasteries of Meteora, I stood in awe atop pinnacles perched in a boundless sky. I later learned that the Greek word meteora translates to “suspended in the air,” and that’s exactly how I felt as I stood before nature’s grandeur and the unfathomable feats of mankind. For centuries, monks and nuns have found quiet solitude within these monasteries that are seemingly built into the sandstone cliffs. You’ll also get an intimate view into two of these historic sanctuaries alongside a local guide. Could there be any place more distinct in Europe than Albania? You’ll see for yourself when you get a firsthand look into the lives of locals living in the small Albanian village of Dhoksat. First, you’ll interact with the villagers and help them with their daily tasks before sharing a Home-Hosted Lunch with a local family. While savoring the fresh ingredients of the region, you’ll discuss daily life in the Albanian countryside with your hosts.
