  • Tim's My Secret Playlist For
My Secret Playlist Artist / band name: Screamfeeder (Tim Steward) Name of track/artist and short write-up on why you like it so much (30-80 words each track): 1. Vitreous Humour / Why Are You So Mean To Me? Later covered by Nada Surf, the original of this 90s indie rock noise-up is by far the superior version. Bottom heavy guitars, squawky vocals, and tempos going up and down like a yoyo; it totally distills the essence of 90s punk rock into 3 minutes and 41 seconds. It makes me wanna get drunk and jump up and down. I shouldn’t drive whilst listening to this song. 2. Thin Lizzy / Running back The secret pop hit hidden on the band’s late 70s opus Jailbreak. This song cannot be played once, it must be on repeat for at least a few hours. Phil’s vocals are gorgeous, and touching, and sweet. The last verse is all nah nah nah nah nah’s and by then no more words are needed, pure gold. 3. The Foo Fighters / Everlong How can a band featuring the ex Nirvana drummer and with half a dozen or so albums out only have one good song? Beats me, but this is a total corker. 4. The Hold Steady / Sweet Payne Everyone knows I think THS fuckin rule, so it’s no surprise they are listed here. This is the second last song on their debut “Almost killed me” what a classic. It sounds so effortless, like they dashed it off after the session was over.

  • Space Ritual Biography
SPACE RITUAL BIOGRAPHY Many decades ago when the world was a more innocent place, there emerged from the ether a band of cosmic travelers who made and lived a new kind of life on earth. They manifested themselves as the spirit of what was then known as “Hawkwind”. After some time, many adventures and experiences, these cosmic travelers became “The Masters of the Universe”, a title bestowed on them through their level of development attained by virtue of the good vibrations, positive creative energy and spirit generated by their collective consciousness, interaction and social endeavours. After many cosmic experiences together, the individual ‘Masters’ left the security of the ‘Hawkwind’ and went in search of their own personal ‘Holy Grail’. Throughout the depths of time and space they traveled, drawn to their own focal point. Their source, their eternal infinite image and reflection manifesting with their own individual ‘Crystal’. These they then strove to understand and learnt to control for the good of all things. At a certain point in time during their journeys, a group of them coalesced and, upon their return, were recognized and had bestowed upon them the title of ‘Star Masters’. They manifested by popular demand, psychic desire and the need to revive the magic thought to be lost, the true original spirit of the Hawkwind, of which the band were all part and remained ‘Keepers of the Flame’, of what is now ‘Space Ritual’. NIK TURNER – vocals, sax, flute Founder member of legendary space rock band 'Hawkwind', named after his nick-name (1969-1977). Wrote the seminal underground anthems 'Master of the Universe', 'Brainstorm', 'D-Rider' and was a driving force in the creation of the legend and mythology which created the band's success.

  • Biography 2020
Biography 2020 Paradise 9 formed in 1997, from out of Gregg McKella playing his songs at songwriters’ nights in London. At the “Acoustic Revolution” in West London he teamed up with bassist Andy McDonald (ex-The Children/ex-Sex Gang Children). Steve Teers later joined on djembe, keyboards and backing vocals. The trio then spotted Wayne Collyer, drumming for heavy rock outfit Deepskin, and invited him to join them and the band was born. In 1999 the SHOWTIME' album was recorded at Quo Vadis studios, in North London and was self-released. In 2000 Paradise 9 split, playing their last gig at West One-Four in London. Wayne left for Australia, and Gregg took a sabbatical. In 2002 they reformed for a one off gig. It went down well and so the band reformed now with Carl Sampson from Casual Affair on drums. They played many gigs in and around London for the next 3 years. In 2007 Andy McDonald left the band and Matt Szul stepped in on bass duties for the next year. In 2008, Gregg recruited his old bandmate Tyrone Thomas (Olympic Clamp Down/ Jeanette Murphy band/ex-Alternative T.V./ ex-Image Wot Image), on lead guitar giving the band an edgier feel. In 2008, Matt left, and another Casual Affair member Neil Matthars took over the bass reins. In 2009 the EP 'Nothing For Tomorrow’ was recorded at Liscombe Park Studios, mixed by Steve Rispin (Lifesigns). Steve Teers left in 2010 to bring up his family. In the summer, Jaki Windmill (Pink Fairies/ex-Space Ritual/ex- Whimwise) joined the band, on djembe and backing vocals.

NEW RELEASE for the week of Feb 12, 2021 PRIORITIES & HIGHLIGHTS >> Pre-Order Now! ADAMS, RYAN "Wednesdays (LP+7”)” (PAX AM) PAXAM006 CD/ LP March 19 street date. Ryan Adams' first album in three years, "Wednesdays", is purely raw, vulnerable, and honest. The music takes you on a deep dive exploring the complex heart of Ryan Adams, through a journey of love, pain, and heartbreak. The album so effortlessly creates an immediate connection with anyone who has ever experienced love lost - the type of love that haunts you in quiet places of your mind. While the lyrics walk you through the vast emotional layers of grief, they also remind you of the rich memories of a love that will forever remain a part of you. BENNY THE "Burden Of Proof" (GRISELDA) GRSD581 CD BUTCHER BENNY THE "Burden Of Proof" (GRISELDA) GRSD582 LP BUTCHER February 26 street date. There is no disputing that Benny The Butcher has arrived. With anticipation now at a fever pitch, Benny The Butcher puts a bow on his and Griselda's genre-shifting year with "Burden Of Proof"; an album that aligns the best rapper alive, with the hottest producer (Hit-Boy) of 2020. Mastered by Guru, "Burden Of Proof" is The Butcher's official level up. With "Burden Of Proof", Benny took his time and holed up in LA with Hit-Boy to craft a masterpiece; and the one producer methodology, though a somewhat new concept for Benny, aids the albums musical variance, depth and diversity. It's still gritty and vintage, but coupled with the melodic and anthemic production of Hit-Boy; Benny's Pyrex vision raps have never sounded more festival ready.

And what happened with this editorial is a case in point. I had been planning to write a rather mealy mouthed editorial about how I have become "friends" with at least one person that I cordially dislike, but how I couldn't really unfriend him, or even comment upon the way he summarily rehomed his dog in what I consider to be a monumentally unethical way, without bring down a brouhaha of cosmic proportions upon my head, which is something for which I do not have the energy or stomach. But then I realised that I just cannot be bothered with it all, and I was casting my mind around for another subject for this week's editorial, when I received an IM from Max, one of my adopted nephews, and a young man of whom I really am terribly fond. He wrote: "Reminding you about the Glasto line up Dear Friends, suggestions..." and I suddenly realised that it is indeed that time of year again! Welcome to the latest issue of the increasingly peculiar music and arts magazine that I started for And so I totally forgot about writing my vicious fun, and which has succeeded more than my wildest little editorial about the commodification of animals imaginings could have prepared me for.
