Searching the British Library website for one of their publications, I found an unexpected new role for myself in the blurb for the BL's Jack Vance critical anthology: 'In this collection of appreciations, Hugo and Nebula award-winning authors Dan Simmons and Gene Wolfe join with academics such as David Langford . ' Neil Gaiman won his lawsuit against comics tycoon Todd McFarlane on 3-4 October, establishing his copyright interest in 'Angela' and two other Gaiman-created characters in the McFarlane Spawn universe, along with his copyright interest in five comics he had written. He was awarded $45,000 (the full amount requested by his lawyers) for unauthorized use of his name and biography to imply that he'd endorsed a recent reprint of some of this material. Much more in back royalties may yet be due, and it's speculated that as part of the settlement McFarlane will be asked to release whatever rights he may actually have to the long-tied-up Miracleman comic. Any Gaiman profits beyond lawyers' fees will go to charities like the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Neil: 'Well, it really wasn't about money. It was about fairness, and sticking to agreements.

Other Editions I don't know if I like this or Chasm City more, I like them both for different reasons, but one thing that is cool about this series is that I'm three books in and while there is a overall larger story being told each one is totally self-contained. The politics involved being a bit too complicated to explain, the war has been raging so long that some humans would rather face extinction than work together with the Enemy side. Clavain reveals Skade's plans for the Conjoiner fleet and the cache weapons, and H agrees to help him beat Skade to them.

  • Tim's My Secret Playlist For
My Secret Playlist Artist / band name: Screamfeeder (Tim Steward) Name of track/artist and short write-up on why you like it so much (30-80 words each track): 1. Vitreous Humour / Why Are You So Mean To Me? Later covered by Nada Surf, the original of this 90s indie rock noise-up is by far the superior version. Bottom heavy guitars, squawky vocals, and tempos going up and down like a yoyo; it totally distills the essence of 90s punk rock into 3 minutes and 41 seconds. It makes me wanna get drunk and jump up and down. I shouldn’t drive whilst listening to this song. 2. Thin Lizzy / Running back The secret pop hit hidden on the band’s late 70s opus Jailbreak. This song cannot be played once, it must be on repeat for at least a few hours. Phil’s vocals are gorgeous, and touching, and sweet. The last verse is all nah nah nah nah nah’s and by then no more words are needed, pure gold. 3. The Foo Fighters / Everlong How can a band featuring the ex Nirvana drummer and with half a dozen or so albums out only have one good song? Beats me, but this is a total corker. 4. The Hold Steady / Sweet Payne Everyone knows I think THS fuckin rule, so it’s no surprise they are listed here. This is the second last song on their debut “Almost killed me” what a classic. It sounds so effortless, like they dashed it off after the session was over.

11/3/2019 Hawkwind on television and film Do Not Panic - Film & Television List - DVD Trading ------ Galleries: Albums - Tickets - Programmes - DVD Artwork THE HAWKWIND ALBUMS There is no shortage of Hawkwind material on CD - official, semi-official & bootlegs of studio and live sessions. Not to mention countless compilations and repackaged discs which look exciting but turn out to be Wembley 1973 again. Here is my take on the major 'Official' releases followed by a collection of live CDs. You can pretty much ignore the rest - I don't know who advised Hawkwind that such wide-scale licensing was a good idea but it has devalued the core catalogue and made it difficult for new fans to know where to start. some of it is so dire it has probably deterred many who would otherwise have got into the quality we all know is there. 14 August 1970 - Hawkwind - 1st album released Hurry On Sundown / The Reason Is? / Be Yourself / Paranoia (part 1) / Paranoia (part 2) / Seeing It As You Really Are / Mirror Of Illusion Dave Brock - John Harrison - Nik Turner - Terry Ollis - Dik Mik - Huw Lloyd Langton - Mick Slattery 8 October 1971- In Search of Space - 2nd album released You Shouldn't Do That / You Know You're Only Dreaming / Master Of The Universe / We Took the Wrong Step Years Ago / Adjust Me / Children Of The Sun Nik Turner - Dave Brock - Dave Anderson - Del Dettmar - Terry Ollis - Dik Mik 24 November 1972 - Doremi Fasol Latido - 3rd album released Brainstorm / Space Is Deep / One Change / Lord Of Light / Down Through The Night / Time We Left This World Today / The Watcher Dave Brock - Nik Turner - Lemmy - Dik Mik - Del Dettmar - Simon King 11 May 1973 - Space Ritual Alive - 4th album released Earth Calling / Born To Go / Down Through The Night / The Awakening / Lord Of Light / The Black Corridor / Space Is Deep / Electronic No.

  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
