Highlights

• On 20 July 2013, AFAD - the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency of Government of Turkey - announced that the total number of Syrians registered and assisted in 20 camps in 10 provinces was increased to 201,120, including 507 Syrians receiving medical treatment in hospitals. AFAD reported that during the 24hrs of 28-29 July 2013 275 Syrians were admitted and registered in the camps while 267 Syrians voluntarily returned to .

• Local officials informed UNHCR that the admissions from Jarablus border will resume again soon. Reportedly there is a group of some 1000 IDPs of Turkomans identified in Jarablus and will be admitted and sent to Malatya container site. In Adana - Saricam camp some 50 persons requested to return to Syria, voluntarily exiting from Jarablus. Also in Osmaniye, camp officials informed UNHCR that a group of camp residents left the camp on permission but reportedly they also went to Jarablus. Both in Adana ad Osmaniye the camp officials suspect that these people who left the camp through Volrep or on permission have gone to Jarablus with the hope/expectation to be re-admitted and transferred to Malatya - Beydagi container site.

• In several camps, the local officials informed UNHCR UNHCR Field Teams that they are either organizing collective fast-breaking dinners (Iftars) for the camp residents in the camp, or depending on the possibility of such an event , in town centers. The management is organizing the transportation for some of the camp residents to participate the "iftar" dinners in town with the local people. In Malatya - Beydagi camp, the camp Legend management is transporting camp residents in groups of 200 or more to the iftars organized/funded by municipalities of the nearby towns. Camp officials believe that such organized activities are also contributing to Military Defectors build confidence and trust between the local community and the Syrian refugees. Current Tent Camps Current Container • In Adana Saricam camp, the officials informed UNHCR that in order to motivate the refugees as well as to build positive relations between the Syrians and the local community, they are planning to identify a group of Container Camps Under up to 25 successful and hardworking students and bring them to city center to participate in various activities 0 18 37.5 75 112.5 150 in the city. UNHCR Field Team will also advocate and support the idea which will contribute to confidence- Kilometres building measures between the host community and the Syrians staying in the camp.
