Private dining at Red Pump is seamless. From seated luncheons and to late-night receptions, we offer entertaining options that make hosting your next event a breeze.

Located on the Historic Downtown Mall, we're in the heart of Charlottesville – offering the ideal location to entertain clients and host out of town guests. Our artisan menus featuring Tuscan and Italian inspired dishes are designed to reflect our farm-to-table philosophy. Locally-sourced seasonal ingredients star in Executive Chef Lee Hendrickson’s menus.

For an unforgettable dining experience, savor the personalized five-course menu at Red Pump Kitchen’s Chef ’s Table. Executive Chef Lee Hendrickson loves creating a custom dining experience for Chef ’s Table guests, putting his inspired spin on the freshest available local ingredients—all specifically tailored to your occasion.

Whether for a birthday or anniversary celebration or a business or board meeting, the Chef ’s Table offers culinary delight in an unparalleled setting located directly in front of our open kitchen and wood-burning oven. We can also seat your party at a high-top table in front of the windows overlooking the historic Downtown Mall.

Chef ’s Table reservations are requested at least three days to one week in advance, and we happily accommodate parties of up to 8 guests, or 12 at the banquette. Our prix-fixe menu is $80 per person, and we offer wine pairings for an additional $40 per person.

Bar FAQ PROGRAM & VENUE Q: Do you allow decorations? We welcome decorations, such as flowers, candles and linens. We do not allow any wall decor that may cause damage. To prevent damage to our surfaces and linens, we require candles to be displayed in votive containers or on a stand.

Q: What is included with the venue? Pricing covers all rentals necessary to present a remarkable experience for your guests, including restaurant tables, bars, high top cocktail tables, chairs, flatware, china, glassware, and setup fees. Our package fee is extremely competitive with other properties, where rentals and set-up expenses are not included.

Q: What type of music is permitted? RPK has a sound system that is compatible with Apple products such as IPhones and IPods so you can bring a pre-set playlist. We have limited space to accommodate live entertainment such as a DJ or small band.

Q: Do you offer valet parking? We don’t offer valet parking. However, we validate parking for up to 2-hours at both the Market Street Parking Street Parking Garage (504 E Market Street) and the Water Street Parking Garage (200 E Water Street). LOGISTICS Q: When do you need the final guest count? Final food & beverage guest count guarantee must be received no later than 15 days prior to the event. See contract for details.

Q: Will we have exclusive use? If so, starting when? Venue exclusivity and start time depend on the contract, event time and guest count.

Q: If our event starts at 10pm, when should we tell our guests to arrive? The space will be ready and available starting at your reserved time.

Q: What is the payment schedule? See contract for payment schedule.

Q: What time do you stop serving at late night events? We will have 15-minutes before your event is scheduled to end.

Q: Can you recommend any local vendors? There are a tremendous number of talented local vendors we can recommend. Please inquire with our Sales Manager.

Q: How much time is allowed for setup and cleanup? Please contact the event manager to discuss. FAQ FOOD & BEVERAGE Q: Do you offer food service in addition to the bar package? What does it cost? We offer many food options, including passed canapés, pizzas or a dessert station. Pricing varies based on your event.

Q: Do you offer kids ? We offer kids meals for children 10 and under. We do not charge for children under the age of 2.

Q: May we bring in an outside caterer? With the exception of a wedding cake, we do not allow outside catering. Our culinary team will provide all of your food & beverage needs.

Q: Do you provide a wedding cake? We do not provide wedding cakes, but we have a great list of local wedding pastry chefs and bakeries! There is an additional plating charge to serve your wedding cake.

Q: Can we bring in our own ? We have a Virginia ABC mixed beverage catering license to provide alcoholic beverages for your event. Due to liability and service standards we do not allow clients to provide their own alcohol.

Q: Can we request specialty liquor, wine or beer that’s not on your current bar list? Yes, if it is available at the ABC, we can purchase on your behalf.

Q: Does the bar package include non-alcoholic ? Yes. Bar packages include soft drinks and other non-alcoholic bar standards (i.e., club soda, tonic water and ). Coffee, iced and lemonade are charged additionally. These items are charged per gallon based upon your headcount.

PRICING Q: How does your pricing work? Pricing depends on the season and the day of the week.

Q: Is the bar package charged per person? Yes. You will be charged at an hourly rate for all adult guests over 21 years old. Children and guests under 21 are charged the non-alcoholic package rate of $8.00 per person.

Q: Is there a food & beverage minimum? We require a minimum combined food and bar expenditure, based on day of week and time of year.

Red Pump Kitchen is the culinary heart and soul of Charlottesville’s popular downtown Pedestrian Mall. With an open kitchen anchored by a classic wood-burning oven, Red Pump’s casually festive atmosphere is equally ideal for a special occasion or a midweek night on the town. Chef Lee Hendrickson’s Mediterranean and Tuscan-inspired menu showcases house-made pastas, gourmet pizzas, and seasonal dishes inspired by our local Virginia farm partners.

From early spring until late fall, Red Pump’s façade opens up and the Alfresco Café + Bar becomes a highlight of the Downtown Mall’s scene. The feel is romantic European café; the food is exceptional contemporary American with a Tuscan . The full dinner menu is served both inside and outside and our mixologists are happy to suggest menu pairings with selections from our curated wine and specialty drinks list.
