ᑐᓴᕋᑦᓴᖅ ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥ ᑲᒥᓯᓇᒥᒃ A message from the ᑭᓇᑐᐃᓐᓇᖅ ᓂᕆᐅᓚᐅᙱᑦᑐᖅ ᐅᓪᓗᑕᒫᑦ ᐃᓅᓯᕗᑦ ᑕᐃᒪᐃᓕᕋᔭᕐᓂᖓᓂᒃ − ᐃᓅᖃᑎᒌᑦ Commissioner of Nunavut ᖃᓂᒌᓗᐊᑦᑕᐃᓕᖃᑦᑕᕐᓂᖏᑦ, ᓇᒻᒥᓂᖅ ᐃᓄᑑᒋᐊᖃᕐᓂᖅ ᐊᓂᑦᑕᐃᓕᓗᓂ, ᓯᐊᕐᒪᖅᑕᐃᓕᑎᑦᓯᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐊᓂᑦᑕᐃᓕᖃᑦᑕᕐᓂᖅ. I don’t think anyone ever expected our day-today life would be like this – social distancing, self-isolation, quarantine. ᑕᐃᒪᐃᓕᐅᕆᐊᖃᖅᑐᒍᑦ ᓴᐳᒻᒥᔭᐅᖁᓪᓗᒋᑦ ᑭᒃᑯᓕᒫᑦ ᖃᓄᐃᑦᑕᐃᓕᒋ ᐊᖃᕐᓂᖏᑦ. We must do these things to protect everyone’s health. ᐊᑦᓱᕉᑎᖃᖅᓯᒪᓂᖏᑦ ᐊᑕᖏᖅᑐᑎᒃ ᐋᓐᓂᐊᖃᕐᓇᖏᑦᑐᓕᕆᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐃᖅᑲᓇᐃᔭᖅᑏᑦ The dedication shown by all healthcare staff and Nunavummiut providing ᓄᓇᕗᒻᒥᐅᓪᓗ ᐊᑐᐃᓐᓇᐅᑎᑦᓯᓂᕐᒧᑦ ᐱᑕᖃᕆᐊᖃᓪᓚᕆᑦᑐᓂᒃ ᐱᔨᑦᓯᕋᐅᑎᓂᒃ ᖁᔭᒋᔭᐅᕗᖅ. essential services is much appreciated. We all truly appreciate the work nurses and ᐃᕐᓂᓱᑦᓰᔩᓪᓗ. ᑐᓂᓯᒪᑦᓯᐊᖏᓐᓇᕐᓂᖏᑦ ᓇᓗᓇᐃᖅᓯᒪᒍᑕᐅᕙᑦᑐᑦ midwives do. Their continued dedication ensures that we ᐊᑐᐃᓐᓇᖃᖁᓪᓗᑕ ᐃᑉᐱᒋᔭᐅᑦᓯᐊᕆᐊᖃᕐᓂᑎᓐᓂᒃ. ᐱᒻᒪᕆᐅᔪᒥᒃ have access to the care we need. They play an essential role in ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑕᐅᕙᑦᑐᑦ ᓴᐳᒻᒥᔭᐅᑦᓯᐊᖁᓪᓗᑕ ᓄᕙᔾᔪᐊᕐᓇᖅ ᓯᐊᕐᒪᖅᐸᓪᓕ ᐊᓯᒪ- protecting us during this pandemic and we are grateful for ᑎᓪᓗᒍ ᖁᔭᓕᑦᓯᐊᖅᑐᒍᓪᓗ ᐊᑦᓱᕉᑎᖃᐃᓐᓇᕐᖓᑕ ᖃᓄᐃᒍᑎᖃᓕᖁᓇᑕ. their continued efforts to keep us healthy. ᐅᐱᒍᓱᑦᑐᖓ ᓴᐱᓕᖅᑕᐃᓕᒍᓐᓇᕐᓂᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᖅᑎᕗᑦ I am proud of the perseverance of our students who studied ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᖃᑦᑕᖅᓯᒪᔪᑦ ᐃᑭᐊᖅᑭᕕᒃᑯᑦ ᐊᖏᕐᕋᖅᓯᒪᓪᓗᑎᓪᓗ, ᐊᑦᓱᕉᑎᖃᑦᓯ- online and at home, doing all they could to complete their ᐊᖅᑐᑎᒃ ᐱᔭᕇᕈᒪᓪᓗᑎᒃ ᐃᓕᓐᓂᐊᖅᑕ ᒥᓐᓂᒃ. ᖁᔭᓐᓇᒦᒃ studies. The regular Government of Nunavut media briefings that are broadcast ᓄᓇᕗᑦ ᒐᕙᒪᒃᑯᖏᑕ ᐱᕙᓪᓕᐊᔪᓕᕆᔨᓄᑦ ᑐᑭᓯᒋᐊᖅᑎᑦᓯᖃᑦᑕᕐᓂᖏᑦ on the Legislative Assembly TV channel and on CBC North radio provide ᑕᑯᑦᓴᐅᑎᑕᐅᕙᑦᑐᑦ ᒪᓕᒐᓕᐅᖅᑎᓄᑦ ᑕᓚᕕᓴᒃᑰᕈᑎᖓᒍᑦ ᐊᒻᒪᓗ ᓯᐱᓯ ᐅᑭᐅᖅᑕᖅᑐᒥ us with the latest information on COVID-19. ᓈᓚᐅᑎᒃᑯᑦ ᓄᑖᖑᓂᖅᐹᓂᒃ ᑐᓴᕈᑎᒋᖃᑦᑕᖅᑕᕗᑦ ᓄᕙᔾᔪᐊᕐᓇᖅ 19 ᒥᑦᓵᓄᑦ. It was a great relief to find out that there were no cases of COVID-19 ᒥᑦᑎᒪᑕᓕᒻᒥᐅᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᖃᑎᖃᑦᓯᐊᕈᓐᓇᓚᐅᖅᑐᑦ ᑐᐊᕕᕐᓇᖅᑐᒃᑯᑦ ᐱᓕᕆᐊᖅᑐᖅᑎᑕ ᐅᓯᒪᔪᓂᒃ. in Pond Inlet. Residents of Pond Inlet worked side-by-side with the rapid ᐊᑕᖏᖅᑐᒥᓪᓗ ᐃᑲᔪᖅᓱᑦᓯᐊᓚᐅᖅᑐᑎᒃ ᒪᓕᑦᑐᑎᒃ ᐃᓘᓐᓇᖏᓐᓂᒃ ᐃᓱᓕᑦᑕᕐᕕᓕᐊᖑᓯᒪᔪᓂᒃ response team.
