Forum necessary for student organizations

We recently attended a fint-ever meeting which dealt with all the student organizations on campus. The format of this meeting was to encourage parti cipation and group effort in solving many of the mutual problems facing stu dent organizations. What we found unfortunate during the meeting was that only 10 student organizations were represented.

There are approximately 60 to 70 student organizations registered with the Student Activities Office, and about 30 of these are considered ‘active.* We suppose participation of one-third is not bad. but we hope the next meeting, scheduled for March 1 at 3:30 pm in the Union Building Conference Room will be better attended.

What these meetings hope to accomplish is the presentation of a united front when requesting money and space from the university. We want to do a w a / with duplication of services and thus present a more streamlined front to administration.

And so to the Student Association, we express our thanks for their in sightfulness in organizing a forum through which all groups can be represen ted.

This type of organization is long overdue. It is this type of effort which will allow for better consideration and representation of students and their lives here at IUPUI. -JEMS Comment Illegal tapes legal? For ths weepy lot among you who went sniffling out of the theatres at the end of Love Story, Erich Segal hat just penned another book which takes up where the last one left off. It's all about what happens to Ryan O’Neal after Ah MoCraw kicks thd bucket. The title it Other's Story and while the movie rights .haven't been announced, it’s a cinch that they’re upcoming.

For the not-so-weepy lot, there’s a new one coming out from Walker Percy (T V Moviegoer. Love in The Runs) called Lancelot. It’s a book about the adventure* of a Southern rich guy named Lancelot Lamar who discovers that hit wife has been unfaithful to-him and to he decides that he must rediscover the meanings of good and evil. Naturally, the only way he can do that is to go out and do good and evil things. Percy is a little genius-tick and funny, but a genius.
