The Second Public Diplomacy Week was held, following the first iteration of the event in 2018. A total of 47 relevant organizations from 30 countries took part, and about 43,000 Koreans attended the event to share advancing trends in public diplomacy around the world. The KF additionally organized programs such as its Public Diplomacy Projects, the Youth Public Diplomacy Corps, and the Public Diplomacy Academy, all on an even larger scale to provide Koreans with an opportunity to participate firsthand in promoting Korea abroad. Meanwhile, a program to foster local human resources as part of the KF-Jeju Island win-win cooperation scheme gave the KF the honor of winning the Minister Award from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the first conference on the result of nationwide efforts to build innovation cities. In 2020, the KF intends to promote Korea’s image of an advanced, future-oriented country in the international community by implementing forward-looking public diplomacy activities based on creativity, innovation, and technology — pivotal capabilities for the future — and by building a hub for the next generation of talented people at home and abroad. In its implementation, the KF strives to always pay attention to this next generation. As part of this effort, the KF will be increasing the scale of the Eurasia Youth Academy, in order to promote cultural and economic cooperation between Central Asia and Korea as well as to contribute to the successful undertaking of the Korean government’s New Northern Policy. The KF will also continue to provide young talent in various sec- tors, including politics, economics, diplomacy, culture, and journalism, with opportunities to play active roles at home and abroad through such programs as Global Challengers, Youth Exchange, and the Next Generation 2019 saw the Korea Foundation (KF) in successful operation of its recently completed Exchange. tripartite system, comprised of its headquarters in Seogwipo, Jeju Island; the KF Global Center in Seoul; and the ASEAN Culture House in Busan.
