SOUTHERN CLUB SUMMER '21 CAMP The Southern Yacht Club Jr. Sailing Program Mission Statement is to develop skilled youth racers and instill a lifelong passion for sailing. We are dedicated to providing a safe fun environment where young sailors can refine their racing skills or enjoy recreational sailing as a fun activity to do with friends. At SYC every young sailor will create memories that last a lifetime and have an opportunity to achieve their personal goals in the sport of sailing. The SYC Junior Sailing Program provides a high level of sailing instruction and coaching for beginner, intermediate, and advanced sailors who want to take their skills to the next level. We provide an environment conducive to learning safety and making friends. We teach all sailors the fundamentals of sailing which include: water safety, the Corinthian spirit, sportsmanship, teamwork, seamanship, points of , parts of the boat, boat handling skills, parts of the sail, sail tuning, knots, and wind direction. If a sailor is interested in continuing their sailing education, SYC offers programs all year long as well. In the summer months, SYC provides one of the most sought after Summer Sailing Programs for children and teens. Training that focuses on fundamentals of boat handling skills, racing & performance BEGINNER & techniques, as well as FUN and RECREATION. This program is ideal for our teen INTERMEDIATE campers, it teaches teamwork and prepares them for High School & College C420 sailing while encouraging them to have fun! Sailing Experience not required. This class is highly recommended for teen campers. Ages 11-17

A program focuses on developing better boat handling skills, learning racing tactics, and OPTIMIST fine-tuning sail controls. Sailors that develop these skills will fine-tune them by traveling GREEN FLEET to area local events. Sailors are encouraged to attend major events but not required. Ages 10-13

This program focuses on tactical strategy, character development, physical fitness, and team ADVANCED racing. We will evaluate and improve sailor’s performance, integrate on the water coaching with OPTIMIST video analysis and advanced equipment in preparation for the regatta experience. Sailors train regularly to prepare to qualify in USODA Team Trails and for a chance to join international Teams. 2021 Fees and Information

Session 1 June 7th - 18th Members $535 | Sponsored Guests $670 *All Registration fees due in full at the end of the month following registration.* Session 2 June 21st - July 2nd *Registrations made in February will be due March 31st* Session 3 July 12th - 23rd *Registrations made in March will be due April 30th, etc.* Session 4 July 26th - Aug 6th *Registration fee is per 2-week session* Extra T-Shirt - $15 per shirt (each sailor will be provided 1 T-Shirt) CAMP HOURS Lunch Plan - $91 per session 9:00AM- 3:00PM 1 hot meal each day plus Gatorade/Iced Tea After Camp Care - $17 Drop-In rate per child, per day Monday-Friday Pre-pay Available per session $140 ($14 per day) Aftercare 3:20 PM – 5:30 PM (Aftercare extends to 5:30 pm)
