Wednesday Evening Pursuit Race 2nd September 2020 Supplementary Sailing Instructions

• Before competing, each helm must enter by using the Grafham Water Sailing Club WebCollect facility. • The fundamental rule on safety includes the UK government guidance on social distancing. A two meter separation is required between all boats at all times. • The Course Number will be announced and published online, by 17h30, and will be displayed on the port side of the committee boat. • For all starts, the starting line will be between the mast on the Committee boat flying an orange flag and a Dan buoy carrying an orange flag. • Classes start at the times listed below. There will be no lap “gate” or finish line. • To alert boats that a race will begin soon, the orange starting line flag will be displayed with multiple sound signals at least one minute before the warning signal 0 is made • The numbers displayed on boards on the committee boat shall be changed with a sound signal every minute until 18h51 or for as long as there are starters in the starting area. • Near the end of the race keep within 50 metres of the centreline of your sailing leg to make sure you receive a finish, especially if beating or tacking downwind. • The race ends at 19h20. Finish ranking is the order of boats on the water, the leader being finished at 19h20, the boats following as soon as possible afterwards. • Note the boats next in front and behind you at the finish time and continue sailing until your finish has been recorded from a RIB or committee boat.

COURSES • The course will be chosen depending on the wind direction and strength. • Marks are listed in order with rounding direction (p-port, s-starboard). • Courses use marks at the west end of the lake, except for mark T (Tower). • Course number will be announced and displayed ashore and on the Committee Boat. • If required Course 9 will be displayed using course boards on the Committee Boat. • Continue sailing Marks 1-11 until the race ends AND you are finished on the water.
