1. Background
The Ayeyarwady Region Investment Fair is jointly organized by Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Ayeyarwady Region Government and supported by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Myanmar Survey Research (MSR).
2. Venue and Date
The Ayeyarwady Region Investment Fair will be held at Yamonnar Oo Resort Hotel, Ngwe Saung Beach, Pathein Township on November 30, 2018 and December 1, 2018. There will be Business Exhibition (November 30, 2018 – from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm), the Investment Seminar (November 30, 2018 – 10:00 am to 1:00 pm), Business Matching (November 30, 2018 – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm) and the Site Visit Tour (December 1, 2018).

4. Transportation
Yangon–Ngwe Saung Trip: There is only road transportation from Yangon to Ngwe Saung Beach. Ngwe Saung is about 6 hours’ drive from Yangon. All the participants can travel to Ngwe Saung from Yangon by car or bus with own arrangement. We would like to request all the participants to arrive Ngwe Saung by November 29, 2018 evening. Ngwe Saung–Yangon Trip: Participants who will not join the site visit tour on December 1, 2018 can go back to Yangon from Ngwe Saung directly. Pathein–Yangon Trip: For those participants who will join the site visit tour on December 1, we will bring you, after the tour, to some major points in Pathein, such as Pathein Hotel, Kan Thar Yar Lake and Pathein Highway Bus Terminal and you can go back to Yangon from Pathein.. 6. General Information on Ayeyarwady Region
1. Location Ayeyarwady Region occupies the delta area of the Ayeyarwady River and is located in southwestern Myanmar. It is bordered by Bago Region to the north and northeast, Yangon Region to the east and the Bay of Bengal to the south and west. It is contiguous to the Rakhine State in the northwest. The region is situated between north latitude 15° 40' and 18° 30' approximately and between east longitude 94° 15' and 96° 15'. It stretches an area of 35,140 square kilometres (13,566 square miles). 2. Population, Culture and Religion According to Myanmar Census 2014, there is a population of 6,184,829 in Ayeyarwady Region and it is one of the most populous States and Regions of Myanmar along with Yangon and Mandalay Regions. The percentage of urban population is 14% and the population density is 176.5 per square kilometre. Most of the residents are Bamar and Karen and Rakhine nationals constitute a small minority group in western coastal regions. Regarding faiths, 92.1% are Buddhism, 6.3% Christianity, 1.4% Islam, 0.1% Hinduism and 0.1% other religions. 3. Administrative divisions There are 6 districts, 26 townships, 29 cities, 279 wards, 1921 village tracts and 11920 villages in Ayeyarwady Region. 4. Economy Agriculture is the main economy of Ayeyarwady Region and major crops are rice, maize, sesame, groundnut, sunflower, beans and pulses, and jute. The principal crop is rice and the Region is also known as granary of Myanmar. Fisheries (fish and prawns) and processed food (fish paste, dried fish, dried prawn and fish sauce) are also included in the main economy of Ayeyarwady Region. There are many tourist attraction places in Ayeyarwady Region such as Ngwe Saung Beach, Chaung Tha Beach, Inye Lake, Gawyingyi Island and so on. 5. Capital The capital city of Ayeyarwady Region is Pathein, which is famous for the Pathein Traditional Parasol and Pathein Halawar (greasy rice cake).
7. General Information on Ngwe Saung Beach
1. Location Ngwe Saung Beach was opened in March 2000 and is located 48 Km west of Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region. The beach stretches for 15 kilometres with beautiful white sand shore. 2. How to get there? Road transportation is the only way to reach Ngwe Saung Beach. You can take car or bus from Yangon or Pathein. It is about 260 km from Yangon and 5-6 hours’ drive from Yangon and around one and half hours’ drive from Pathein. 3. Cash & Credits Since January 2017 there is a KBZ Bank with a working ATM in town, opposite the Ngwe Saung Pagoda. More ATMs exist—in front of Eskala Resort (AYA Bank), at Emerald Sea Resort (KBZ Bank), at Yamonnar Oo Resort (KBZ Bank) and at Ngwe Saung Yacht Club (KBZ Bank) south of town. The majority of the large hotels accept Master Cards and Visa. All the guest houses and budget places do not.

1. Visa Most foreign nationals require a visa to enter Myanmar. Visa-free travel (for 14 days, or longer in some cases) is permitted for Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia and Laos passport holders. Is the Ayeyarwady Region Investment Fair Free? The admission to attend the Ayeyarwady Region Investment Fair is free for all attendees. However, all the attendees need to arrange all the necessary transportation (Car/Bus etc.) to and from Ngwe Saung and accommodation by themselves. The organizers will provide lunch and coffee at break time at Investment Fair and Seminar on November 30, 2018. Free transportation and lunch for Site Visit Tour on December 1, 2018 will also be provided by the organizers.
What is the language medium of the seminar? English is the medium for communication. English–Myanmar interpreters will be available at business matching tables.
