Local Information Horsforth: Horsforth is a town within the situated approximately 5 miles north west of the city centre. Horsforth boasts a atmosphere steeped in history, is home to Leeds International airport and excellent transport links to the city centre. The bustling is only 15 minutes away. Leeds: Leeds is based in West and widely recognised as the regional capital of the Yorkshire and Humber region. With a population of approximately 750,000 Leeds is approximately 2 hours by train to London, 1 hour and 30 minutes to Liverpool, 1 hour to Manchester and Sheffield and 30 minutes to York. Leeds is also in the heart of the UK with the stunning sights of the Lake District National Park approximately 2 hours away, and the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors and Peak District National Parks within about an hour’s drive of the city. Leeds is internationally recognised as a major city of learning and education, and is home to approximately 100,000 students, including thousands of international students. Leeds City Centre is compact and boasts having ‘something for everyone’ with over 120 shops, restaurants and bars under one roof at , Victoria Quarter and Victoria Gate. was built in 1857, is home to a charming blend of old and new and is the largest covered markets in Europe. The Corn Exchange, built in 1864, is host to many independent retailers but still retains its original Victorian architecture. Leeds City Centre is also home to the City Varieties and Grand Theatre and Opera house, there is also Carriageworks theatre and Playhouse – which all host touring musicals, plays and pantomimes. There are plenty of places to see live music and gigs at the O2 Academy and the ‘Best New Venue in the world in 2014’ – Leeds Arena, our new 13,000-seat amphitheatre auditorium.
