  • Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010
THE GROCERIES MARKET INVESTIGATION (CONTROLLED LAND) ORDER 2010 Notice of making an Order 1. On 9 May 2006, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), in exercise of its powers under section 131 of the Enterprise Act 2002 (the Act), referred to the Competition Commission (CC), for investigation and report, the supply of groceries by retailers in the United Kingdom. 2. The CC investigated the matters referred to it in accordance with section 131 of the Act and concluded, in accordance with section 134(1), that there were features of the market, either alone or in combination, which prevent, restrict or distort competition within the relevant market, and in accordance with section 134(2) that an adverse effect on competition existed. These conclusions were published on 30 April 2008 in its report The supply of groceries in the UK market investigation (Final Report). 3. The CC found that two of the features that adversely affected competition in the market (whether alone or in combination) were the high levels of concentration in local markets for the supply of groceries by mid-sized and larger grocery stores, and the control of land in highly-concentrated local markets by incumbent retailers. 4. The CC found that there was a detrimental effect on customers resulting from the adverse effect on competition and considered, in accordance with section 134(4), whether action should be taken by it, or whether it should recommend the taking of action by others, for the purpose of remedying, mitigating or preventing the adverse effect on competition concerned or the detrimental effect on customers so far as it has resulted from, or may be expected to result from, the adverse effect on competition.

  • Horsforth Closure GENH2056IAFEB21H
Understanding your branch closure Santander, 42 Town Street, Horsforth LS18 4AP This branch will be closing at 4pm on 5 August 2021. We’d like to explain why, and help you understand how you can continue banking with us. Background to our approach Our customers are continuing to change the way they manage their money. As well as using our branches, many more of our customers find it convenient to do their day-to-day banking using Online, Mobile or Telephone Banking. As a result, customers are visiting our branches much less. This change has been happening over a number of years now and has accelerated in recent times. Due to these changes, we have carefully and thoroughly reviewed the way we develop our services for customers and considered many factors, including where each of our branches are located and how they are used. We know our branch network remains very important to our customers. Whilst we have made the difficult decision to close some branches, we have only done so where we know there are other facilities our customers can use and where we have another Santander branch within a few miles. As part of this review, we have assessed each branch individually to consider the potential impact for our customers, colleagues and the alternative options available to bank locally. We hope this leaflet helps to provide more information about our decision to close Horsforth branch, the alternative ways to continue to bank with Santander and other local banking services available. Adam Bishop, Head of Branch Interactions Branch assessment Before reaching the decision to close Horsforth branch, a full review of the branch was undertaken, including: ¡ The way our Horsforth branch customers are ¡ The availability of alternative ways to bank with choosing to bank with us.

  • Stuart Andrew Mp
STUART ANDREW MP Our Ref: SA/AC/LinkRoad Leeds City Council Highways and Transportation Selectapost 6 Ring Road Middleton LEEDS LS10 4AX 24th February 2016 Dear Sir/Madam, RE: AIRPORT LINK ROAD CONSULTATION I am writing to object to the three options proposed for the link road to Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) for the following reasons: Option A The Council’s own leaflet on this consultation acknowledges that this option would have the greatest impact on farm and woodland. With grave concerns already being raised over the Council’s Site Allocations Plan and its impact on the greenbelt, it seems counterintuitive for the Council to acknowledge this while then building on the greenbelt at a later date. Additionally, the Horsforth spur for the rail link is estimated to cost £50m – less than the £75m allocated for this option. Furthermore, this will not assist with traffic coming from North Yorkshire, Bradford and those using the A660 from the east. Option B This option provides much less traffic relief than option A. While it is less expensive, the main access into the airport will still be from the A658. This seems to go against the entire issue of solving connectivity. Option C This option is nowhere near comprehensive enough to solve the connectivity issues facing LBIA. It will not go far enough in improving accessibility for the airport and will provide little traffic relief to local communities. This is a piecemeal approach, which would adversely affect the local school and the side streets which would join the main road. To create a main road in this area would see an increased danger to children leaving the school and families trying to get onto the main road from their street.
