Our coordinated media campaign showcased 30 stories of education heroes from across Pakistan. The campaign concluded on March 18 with a call to action urging our audiences to write to their elected representatives, asking them to do more for education.

Our website saw more unique visitors and page views than in any other month in the past year. We asked our audiences to send a letter to their representatives using the Education Map and they responded in large numbers.

727 letters sent through the Alif Ailaan Education Map in a single 30- day period – the highest number since the map was 14 videos posted on launched in the website were May 2013 viewed 1,744 times

On March 1, an All-Parties Conference was held in Hyderabad to take the message of Sindh’s Promise to its Children forward. 7 politicians from 7 different political parties spoke about the need for urgent measures to ensure 100 per cent enrolment and dramatically improve the quality of education in the province. The conference drew 413 participants, and 117 attendees signed the Alif Ailaan Declaration in support of education reform.

In the week of Mar 17 we held one-on-one meetings with 22 members of the Punjab assembly women’s caucus. Our political advocacy team was invited to a meet and greet dinner hosted by the caucus to advise on Punjab’s state of education and discussed the assembly’s current and future initiatives for education.

Alif Ailaan partnered with the Academy of Education Planning and Management and World Food Programme for the preparation and launch of the Pakistan Education Atlas for year 2013. Importance of educating girls

A three day event was hosted by Alif Ailaan’s education activist in Matiari to highlight the importance education for girls.

Five hundred participants were joined by two civil society organizations at our conference where local resource mobilisers discussed solutions for low female enrolment.
