A unique leadership development experience Inspired by the Heroes of This 6-day programme is a unique experience, taking place in the stunning mountains of Southern , designed to help you develop your natural leadership and management potential through using the inspirational story of the World War Two epic Norwegian tale of the “Heroes of Telemark” saboteurs. It will probably be a totally new experience for you, which will enable you to grow your confidence, develop your leadership and management skills and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You will return with a real sense of achievement and be inspired by some truly courageous people who showed remarkable resilience and leadership skills. The programme is suitable for anybody aged between 18-70, with average fitness, with lots of enthusiasm, keen to learn new skills of cross-country skiing and leadership, whilst also interested in learning more about this historic wartime story.

Experience

Leadership History Experience We will be based in a stunning and comfortable hotel in the Telemark region, overlooking the wild and infamous Hardangervidda plateau. From there, we will explore the local area using cross-country skis, which we will teach you how to use. This was the principal means of transport for the saboteurs. In the evenings, you can relax and enjoy the facilities, such as the swimming pool and sauna. Leadership During the stay, we will empower you to unlock your natural leadership and management skills and style. This famous story of the saboteurs highlights how they had to develop many of their leadership skills while they were living and for a while surviving up on the Hardangervidda, waiting to carry out their vital mission. We will work with you, using the Peak Dynamics Leadership and Success traits, to unlock and nurture many of those skills and traits used by the saboteurs, as well as bring out your natural leadership and management style, which you can then take back to use in your everyday life. Historic This historic tale of heroism is one of a group of young Norwegian resistance fighters forced into situations of extreme leadership. Their inspirational approach to achieving their critical mission in one of the worst winters they had experienced, displayed all of the qualities required of a modern-day leader. We will study their incredible achievement and the specific skills that were required to be successful in their mission. You have the potential, you just have to explore The Heroes of Telemark were a group of Norwegian resistance fighters, specially selected for their local knowledge and survival skills, who during the Second World War, were trained in the UK by the Special Operations Executive, before being parachuted back into the wilds of the Hardangervidda plateau in the middle of a severe winter to survive and find shelter until they received instructions to attack the hydroelectric power plant at , near , in the Telemark region, which was producing ‘’ – a critical ingredient in the making of atom bombs, which the Nazis were keen to get their hands on. Programme On arrival in Norway, you will be transferred to the hotel high up in the Telemark region close to the Hardangervidda, Northern ’s highest mountain plateau. The hotel has some magnificent views over the plateau, quite close to the various huts used by the Norwegian saboteurs in 1942. Your room will have an ensuite shower and a tv. The hotel has a swimming pool and sauna. For the first three days, we will teach you basic cross-country skiing skills on some groomed routes. This will be important in order for you to be able to complete the saboteurs’ approach route into the Vermork plant. On the fourth and final day, you will ski and snowshoe along the actual attack route used by the saboteurs, over 75 years ago, as part of ‘Operation Gunnerside’ to attack the Vemork plant. This will include a ski out to see one of the original huts, Grasfjell Hytte, originally used by the saboteurs. We will then show you the escape route that the saboteurs took. For the energetic and fit, you will be able to take part in the ‘escape challenge’ and climb the forestry track the actual saboteurs took while escaping from the German army, after the successful attack. For the rest, you can ride to the top of the mountain on the cable car, which rides over the top of the escape route. On the last night, we will have a final dinner in the hotel, before departing the next day.
