Georgian Dream Founder Bidzina Ivanishvili Condemns Opposition Groups Efforts to Harm Election Process; Polls Give GD Consistent Lead

opposition groups have resorted to violence during the electoral campaign. This is meant to undermine the upcoming elections, with polls already giving the Georgian Dream party the edge, with forecasts ranging from between 50% and 60% in support of Georgian Dream.
Bidzina Ivanishvili statement in full:
“I condemn all forms of violence that harm the pre-election process and the duality of democracy in the country.
The fact is that radical opposition groups have turned violence as a side event into a pre-election campaign. Recently, provocations on their part have become more freguent, which, in some cases, unfortunately, deceived the supporters of the Georgian Dream. There is a danger that with the approach of the elections, violent confrontations of this nature will become more freguent.
I would like to call on everyone, especially the Georgian Dream supporters, to exercise maximum restraint - do not resort to provocations, do not allow radical groups to damage the electoral environment and the country’s international reputation.
Georgian Dream is convincingly winning this election. All the research confirms that based on the unprecedented support of the Georgian society, our forecast rate ranges from 54 to 60% and in some cases even exceeds 63%.”
Over the past couple of weeks, polls have given Georgian Dream a consistent lead over the opposition political groups, ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary elections:
• Last week, the Georgian Institute of Politics (GIP) released the results of its survey, which interviewed Georgian and international political

observers about the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia. The GIP polling gave “corridor of Expectations” results: Georgian Dream - 39-53%; United National Movement - 16-25%; and European Georgia -
6-11%. • Three recent polls conducted by the respected UK-based polling organisation Survation, which correctly predicted the UK General Election in December 2019, have given Georgian Dream ahead with over 50% of voting intentions. • A GORBI poll showed Georgian Dream with 63% ahead of UNM with 14%.
The Georgian Dream led-government is steadfastly committed to Georgia’s democracy and ensuring the holding of the most free, fair and transparent elections ever held in modern Georgia.
The Parliament of Georgia led by Georgian Dream has adopted the Election Reform Package with a strong majority, in line with OSCE/ODIHR recommendations and with the public support of both the U.S. and the E.U. These measures will protect the integrity of the elections as well ensuring fair and equitable conditions during the campaign.
As shown in all credible polls, Georgian Dream has a consistently high and rising level of electoral support, which provides solid grounds to expect that the party will once again receive a strong mandate of trust from the Georgian population.
