4 Foreword

Dear Colleagues,

The Georgia Independent College Association is pleased to share this year’s GICA DESCRIPTIVES 2014 which includes updated information about our sector, member institutions, affordability, enrollment and completion trends, and much more. GICA is an association of Georgia’s private (independent), not-for- profit and that counts among its members 24 four-year and 2 two-year institutions across the state of Georgia. Collectively, these institutions serve over 75,000 students and are dedicated to educating tomorrow’s leaders and meeting our State’s current and future workforce needs.

The data provided in this publication speak to the major contributions each campus and our sector make to ensuring an educated Georgia and to meeting workforce needs. We also hope that the information provides member institutions with important trend data which may be useful in the strategic planning process.

Section 1 provides overall sector information including enrollment snapshots, headcount trends, graduation rates as well as information regarding the financial contributions of the sector and expenditures. This section addresses who we serve, how we do so, and our effectiveness as a sector.

Section 2 presents basic descriptive information about each campus which may help familiarize those in the independent education sector about the variety of institutions that comprise GICA. Information in this section includes locations of the campuses, distance learning availability and award offerings, student services, student/faculty ratios, athletics association memberships, and participation in veterans services.

Section 3 examines enrollment trends by institution, and looks at variations by gender, race, age, and students with disabilities.

Section 4 explores the affordability and financial aid received by students attending each GICA institution, including published total price, tuition and fees, financial aid awards, and more. Much of this information is presented using trend data with percent change overviews.

Section 5 provides an overview of degrees awarded and completions for each institution by degree level.

Please note: All charts, graphs, and tables use the most recently available data at the time of publication, which may not be 2013-2014 data. The data for this report were provided by public information sites. Unless otherwise cited, all information in this publication come from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) or via special campus request. We hope that you enjoy learning more about our member institutions.
