More research has been done into sexual dysfunction (outside of hypersexuality) in neurological disorders such as erectile dysfunction and hyposexuality (loss of libido). Furthermore, in Parkinson’s disease research, most mention of hypersexuality has been in conjunction with other impulse control disorders and has therefore not been examined in depth on its own. Although in recent years hypersexuality has become more recognized as an issue in research, there is still very limited information regarding its manifestations, impact, and correlates. It is therefore important to explore this area in detail in order to broaden understanding associated with this sensitive issue. Perhaps in doing so, barriers will be broken and the issue will become more easily discussed and, eventually, more systematically assessed and better managed. This thesis aims to serve as an exploratory paper examining prevalence, clinical phenomenology, impact, and potential feasible psychological interventions for hypersexuality in patients with neurological disorders and their carers. The thesis is divided into three main studies: 1. Study I: systematic review assessing prevalence, clinical phenomenology, successful treatment modalities, implicated factors contributing to the development, and assessment tools for hypersexuality in specific neurological disorders.

P.O. Box 1992, Ile-Ife, Nigeria Abstract. Litter production and decomposition were studied at monthly intervals for two years in Cola nitida and Theo- broma cacao plantations at Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Three plantations of each economic tree crop were used for the study. Mean annual litter fall was 4.73±0.30 t ha-1 yr-1 (total): 3.13±0.16 t ha-1 yr-1 (leaf), 0.98±0.05 t ha-1 yr-1(wood), 0.46±0.12 t ha-1 yr-1 (reproductive: fruits and seeds), 0.17±0.03 t ha-1 yr-1 (finest litter) in T. cacao plantations and 7.34±0.64(total): 4.39±0.38 (leaf), 1.57±0.17 (wood), 1.16±0.13 (reproductive) and 0.22±0.01 (finest litter or trash) in C. nitida plantations. The annual mean litter standing crop was 7.22±0.26 t ha-1 yr-1 in T. cacao and 5.74±0.54 t ha-1 yr-1 in C. nitida plantations. Cola nitida leaf litter had higher decomposition rate quotient (2.00) than T. cacao leaf litter (1.03). Higher quantities of calcium, magnesium, potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, managenese, iron, zinc and copper were deposited on C. nitida than on T. cacao plantations. The low litter decomposition rates in these plantations implies accumulation of litter on the floor of these plantations especially T.

Male impotence can be caused by androgen deficiency in aging men, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, spinal cord injury, high level of cholesterol, hypertension, prostate surgery, prostate and heart disease, penis anatomical deformity, social and psychological conditions as unhappy marital relationship, depression, and stress. Aphrodisiac is a drink or food that arouse sexuality. It can be categorized into three groups according to their action mode as follows: increase sexual pleasure substances, increase libido substances (arousal, sexual desire), and increase sexual potency (erection effectiveness). Various extracts of medicinal plants and orally active drugs such as vardenafil, sildenafil, and tadalafil are used to increase arterial blood flow for treating (ED) in southwest Asia. Hence, this paper review focuses on medicinal plants used as aphrodisiacs for scientific validation and management of erectile dysfunction (ED). Barry 1 Tropinone is the first intermediate in the biosynthesis of the pharmacologically important tropane alkaloids that possesses the 8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane core bicyclic structure that defines this alkaloid class. Chemical synthesis of tropinone was achieved in 1901 but the 1234567890():,; mechanism of tropinone biosynthesis has remained elusive. In this study, we identify a root- expressed type III polyketide synthase from Atropa belladonna (AbPYKS) that catalyzes the formation of 4-(1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinyl)-3-oxobutanoic acid. This catalysis proceeds through a non-canonical mechanism that directly utilizes an unconjugated N-methyl-Δ1-pyrrolinium cation as the starter substrate for two rounds of malonyl-Coenzyme A mediated decarbox- ylative condensation. Subsequent formation of tropinone from 4-(1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinyl)-3- oxobutanoic acid is achieved through cytochrome P450-mediated catalysis by AbCYP82M3. Silencing of AbPYKS and AbCYP82M3 reduces tropane levels in A. belladonna.
