Conference Venue – Second Floor Mezzanine, College Building

Middlesex University London NW4 4BT www.mdx.ac.uk

Arrival at Middlesex University

Please arrive at the main campus building, called College Building and follow the signs for the conference and make your way to the Second Floor Mezzanine. Please ask at reception for information if you are not sure.

Middlesex University is reachable either by tube, bus and rail trains.

By Bus The easiest option is by bus. The bus will actually drop you in front of Middlesex University main building (College Building). If you choose to stay at the recommended hotel below, you can take these two routes to Middlesex University (press the bottom to hop-off the bus): 143 route to Archway 326 route to Barnet The Spires

You can use an Oyster or contactless payment card to pay as you go on all London buses. The pay as you go fare is £1.50. Only touch your Oyster or contactless payment card on the yellow card reader when you board the bus. You can't use cash to pay for your bus fare anymore!

By Tube Take the (the black line) toward and hop-off at Central. Once out of the station, turn right and walk up the hill, you will reach traffic lights where you need to turn right and on the left you will see Middlesex University. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes from Hendon Central to Middlesex University. You may wish to take the bus from Hendon Central (either 143 or 326 please see above).

Pay to travel by tube or bus The easiest and cheapest payment method is by purchasing an oyster card. This can be purchased at any station. For more details click here.

If you plan to visit London, I would recommend that you either buy an oyster card and put money on it. Or to purchase a Day Travel card. A Day Travel Card will allow you to travel on any tube station, bus and even some trains for just (approximately) £9.20 (nine pounds and twenty pence). This is only valid for the day you purchased.

For all transport information visit https://tfl.gov.uk/ You can order an Oyster card and have it delivered to you home in Europe prior to coming to London and it can be topped-up with money online. Click here for more details.

How to reach London

This information is based on the assumption that the recommended hotel will be chosen. We suggest that you try to find a flight that arrives at Heathrow Airport. It is the main airport and it is very easy and cheap to get to and leave from.

From Heathrow Airport: The easiest option from Heathrow Airport to get to London is by tube. Follow the signs to the and take the Piccadilly line (the blue line) toward Cockfoster and change at King’s Cross to get the Northern Line towards Edgware and hop-off at Brent Cross.

From London City Airport: From this Airport, you will need to get the DLR line towards Bank and change to the Northern Line towards Edgware hop-off at Brent Cross.

From Gatwick Airport: From Gatwick Airport it is better to get the train. Depending on whether you arrive at the North or South Terminal, follow the signs to the train station. Get the train that stops either at London Bridge (preferably) or Blackfriars.

If you manage to get the train to London Bridge, you will then have to get the tube (Northern Line) toward Edgware and hop-off at Brent Cross. If you will get to Blackfriars, get the tube (either the Circle or District line) and change at Embankment for the Northern Line towards Edgware hop-off at Brent Cross.

From Luton Airport: From Luton Airport the best transport to Brent Cross, is by Coach. You will need to take the National Express Coach to London (via ). Make sure you stop at Golders Green. Golders Green is very close to Brent Cross and you could take a bus to Brent Cross from outside the bus station. More information here.

From Stansted Airport: From Stansted Airport the best transport to Brent Cross, is by Coach. You will need to take the National Express Coach to London (via Golders Green). Make sure you stop at Golders Green. Golders Green is very close to Brent Cross and you could take a bus to Brent Cross from outside the bus station. More information here.

From Southend Airport: From Southend Airport it is best to get the railway either to: London Liverpool Street Station (53 minutes) or Stratford Station (44 minutes) Both these stations are on the Central Line (the red line) and you will need to change at Bank for the Northern Line towards Edgware and hop-off at Brent Cross.

Hendon Hall Hotel ✩✩✩✩ https://beta.handpickedhotels.co.uk/hendonhall

This Hotel is located 10-15 minutes walk from Middlesex University. It is a four star Hotel therefore more expensive than the other and it is not in a central location. However, I believe they offer a free shuttle service to Hendon Central.
