Hospital facilities

Dalby Hospital has a total of 35 beds. There is a 3-bay emergency department. On average there are 30- 40 presentations per day. The hospital averages 30 retrievals from the emergency department to larger centres per month.

Hospital services include:

• Pathology: Q-Path, Sullivan & Nicolaides and QML. • Imaging: plain film, USS, CT. Do not call staff in for non-emergency imaging. • Maternity service • Theatre • Local mental health • Pharmacy facilities, however stock can be limited at times. • Allied Health: o Physiotherapy o Occupational Therapy o Radiography o Social Work o Dietetics o Speech Pathology

Clinical service profile: The Hospital and Health Service (DDHHS) is an independent statutory body, established under state legislation through the provisions of the Hospitals and Health Boards Act 2011, and is governed by the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board.

The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service provides a comprehensive range of high-quality acute, sub- acute, mental health, drug and alcohol, oral health, residential aged care, and community health services. We deliver clinical services to approximately 300,000 people across 26 locations, including the major hospital in , regional and rural community hospitals, residential aged care facilities, multipurpose health services, and community clinic facilities.

The Hospital and Health Service has a major teaching role, providing both undergraduate and postgraduate clinical experience for members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. We are the largest employer in the Darling Downs, employing more than 5,000 people, with revenue of more than $640 million annually.

Medical Workforce: Our Medical Workforce team is available to provide support and advice for employment. We coordinate and monitor the processes for medical staffing including registration. We aim to provide you with personalised and prompt assistance.

On the job training:  Enhances opportunities to interact with senior medical staff who are supportive and provide advice and regular feedback.  Ensures constructive feedback from consultants and registrars, providing real opportunities to improve clinical skills and reasoning.

Built on the black soil plains of the northern Darling Downs, Dalby is the regional hub of the Western Downs and a hive of rural enterprise.

Thomas Jack Park is the perfect place to stop for a wander through the beautifully landscaped gardens, relax by the lily pond and listen to the tranquil sounds of the waterfall. Experience the local history and culture of the district on display at Pioneer Park Museum, with the largest collection of working early model trucks, tractors and agricultural equipment. Follow the Dalby Heritage Trail and visit some of Dalby's stunning historical buildings, homes and churches.

Dalby is a great place to base yourself before exploring the National Park and the historic Jimbour House, a short drive to the north-east of town. To the south-west of Dalby is the Lake Broadwater Conservation Park, a popular spot for camping, bushwalking and birdwatching.

Dalby has all the essential services. Major industries are cotton, , sorghum, sunflowers and cattle.
