Peter is a registered specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesiology and is held in high regard by the veterinary profession for his surgical ability. Peter’s clinical skill was acknowledged by the Australian Veterinary Association by his appointment as “Small Animal Practitioner of the Year” in 1991. An avid reader of the scientific journal “Nature”, Peter’s brain has continued to expand to the point where it has displaced most of the hair from the front of his head! Although now retired, Peter is still well known and active in both the industry and local community. Dr Meg Salter Meg graduated in 1996 before working at Knox Vets in Dalby and a short stint in Dungog (NSW) before returning to Knox. She left General Practice in 2002 to join the team at Sandalwood Feedlot. Meg Salter Meg has been a member of the AVA since she was a student and enjoys being a part of DDAVA, Cattle Vets, Equine Vet Association and AVA in general. Her family is part of the ownership and management team at Sandalwood and on a personal level they have an Australian Stock Horse and Angus cattle stud with their 3 children Charlie (14), Matilda (12) and Jess (4). One of Megs passions is introducing young people to agriculture especially Intesive Ag (Feedlots) and they have taken school & University Students (both Ag and Vet) for Prac for many years. Sandalwood always embraces research and new technology and often have different projects being undertaken at the facility. Currently thye are part of a Greenhouse Gas Emissions trial looking at emissions in Feedlots. Being responsible corporate citizens has always been important to them and they do not take their role in Biosecurity, Animal Health and Welfare and wider Agriculture lightly. Dr Jonathan Lee Jonathan Lee is currently the Principal Veterinary Officer – Operations, with Biosecurity Queensland, part of the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. In this position, he manages the Operations Vet Team, whom are responsible for field based disease investigations, emergency disease response, the provision of expert opinions for animal welfare investigations, as well as general and targeted surveillance for notifiable animal diseases and pests throughout Queensland. Jonathan has a BVSc from the University of Queensland (1981) and a Post Graduate Honours Degree in Veterinary Pathology also from the University of Queensland (1987). He has an extensive background in animal disease investigation, surveillance and research. Jonathan has also been a member of the Australian Army Reserve for 37 years and currently holds the rank of Captain, with the 51st Battalion, The Far North Queensland Regiment. Dr Cassandra Robinson Cassandra graduated from the University of Sydney in 2009. Since she has practiced as an equine veterinarian and surgeon. Cass is dedicated and hardworking, giving much to the horses in her care, particularly sick foals and surgical cases in the post- operative period. In recent years ophthalmic surgery has become another one of Cassandra’s special interests.
