NHS Fife is one of 14 territorial NHS Boards in Scotland, serving the stunning and diverse Kingdom on Fife on Scotland’s East coast. We provide healthcare to a population of more than 355,000 and we currently employ around 8,500 whole time equivalent staff. Our Health Board is one of the most dynamic and responsive in Scotland delivering clinically excellent and person-centred care. NHS Fife’s property portfolio includes two main hospitals in Fife; the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline. The Victoria Hospital is where specialist and acute services are based and our Queen Margaret Hospital is home to a number of community and therapy services, alongside a Minor Injuries Unit and a state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment centre. NHS Fife Director of Property and Asset Management Recruitment Pack | 5 Job description Job purpose To actively contribute to the strategic direction and effective performance of the NHS Fife Board and Executive Directors Group, routinely providing challenge beyond the area of their functional expertise, to secure delivery and achievement of success across the aspects of the health and care agenda in Fife. The post has responsibility for leading and managing the estates, facilities and capital planning functions across NHS Fife: ● Strategic and Operational Estates ● Facilities Services ● Capital Planning ● PFI / PPP Contracts The broader executive responsibilities of the NHS Fife executive team are currently under review and there is scope for this post to take on further areas of responsibility, based on the skills and experience of the postholder. Dimensions Main population centres: North & East Fife is predominately a rural community encompassing large farmlands, fishing villages and with the University town of St Andrew, with a population of around 75,000 Central Fife incorporates Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes together with largely urban manufacturing industries based on a mixture of former heavy industries and textiles with a population of around 150,000 NHS Fife 6 | Director of Property and Asset Management Recruitment Pack West Fife incorporates Dunfermline and has a wide mixture of population from old industries (mining) and new high technology services together with a large Edinburgh commuter base, with a population of around 130,000 Population of Fife: 355,000 NHS Fife Budget: £779m NHS Fife Staff: 8,500 (whole time equivalent) Directorate Budget (Revenue) £75 million. Directorate Workforce (WTE) 931. Major capital investment has been secured to support the development of a state of art Elective Orthopaedic Centre for Fife. In addition, there are a number of significant strategic projects which are anticipated in the next five to ten years within NHS Fife, including projects to support Mental Health redesign, community health & wellbeing hubs, community hospital redesign and major site master planning for the main acute site. As a Corporate Director the post holder will be required to take strategic portfolio/project lead as the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), and/or be a key contributor for agreed areas of organisation wide development out with their functional leadership and responsibility. Overnight CT scans are outsourced to a ‘night-hawk’ service. NHS Fife has a rolling plan for equipment replacement. Present imaging facilities include: two 1.5T MRI scanners, Three CT scanners (128 slice), three fluoroscopy suites, 6 (non obstetric) ultrasound scanners, one state-of-the-art intervention room and separate units for breast and nuclear medicine. Postgraduate and undergraduate teaching is strongly encouraged, with established links with St Andrews, Edinburgh and Dundee Universities. We have a strong commitment to radiology trainees from the South East Scotland training programme.
