Dear Graduates, This is normally the time of year that we would be welcoming you and your guests to our graduation ceremonies in and in order to celebrate your success and the achievement of your qualifications. Whilst we are unable to hold these events this year due to the current public health crisis, we very much wanted to take this opportunity to mark the occasion and provide you with a token to acknowledge this milestone in your learning journey. It should never be underestimated just what it means for our students to get to this stage and the true sense of achievement that this should bring to all of you. This year we have over 800 learners who have gained nationally recognised qualifications. I would like to congratulate you all and say how tremendously proud I am of all of our learners this year who have had to overcome unprecedented challenges and transition into an entirely different way of learning over the past six months. Now however is the time to look towards your future and to think about your next chapter. Some of you will be certain of the path you want to take, others may be unsure, and perhaps many of you are feeling slightly anxious about what the current situation means for your future. Whatever position you find yourself in, take this moment to acknowledge just how much you have achieved so far and remember that there is no single route to success. Take the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained whilst with us and use it to your advantage wherever your next steps take you. My advice to you as you go forward would be to look around you, try new things, and seize any opportunity which comes your way. This has never been more important than at this moment in time. Remember you have achieved more than your new qualification, you have new skills, you’ve built confidence and you should take great pride in what you have achieved. As a learning organisation, a key priority for the College is to adapt and evolve in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing landscape and to provide students with the skills required for the jobs of the future. As we must be prepared for change during this time, so must you. The ability to adapt, develop and to look at new ways of doing things will be vital in your future careers - whatever your job or industry. We have witnessed this in action over the past few months and all of you have already risen to the challenge and shown us it can be done. Going forward, it would be a pleasure to welcome you all back to Forth Valley College at some point in the future. I would encourage you to not only consider further learning opportunities as you progress in your career but also to become involved in our growing alumni community and stay in touch throughout your careers. As a student of Forth Valley College, you have been a part of something really special and I look forward to seeing you again. I wish you all the very best for your future.
