OUR MISSION STATEMENT We are a Catholic Community that is called by God to follow . We believe that we are called to worship God together, to lead God's people along the path of hope laid down by Jesus, to share his message through preaching, through the education and formation of our people, young and old, and through caring service and sensitive outreach to those in need. Rev. Tony P. LaTorre, Pastor Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time “The End of a Chapter ...... ”

Normally, for years I have dedicated this page, in the weekly bulletin, to present a short “written” homily on the Sunday’s readings. I say “normally” because today, I turn my thoughts on this page, as this is my last Sunday bulletin at Stephen, so I use the space for another, just as important, message – to thank all of you for your support and continued kindness each and every day. Working with you has been one of the most memorable pleasures of my ministry. Each of the projects I pre- sented to you, to enhance “your” worship space, was met with such enthusiasm and support – but with excite- ment and financial backing you showed you were ready for change. And you supported these changes and Saint Stephen now shines like it did on opening day years ago. And I thank you for your support in allowing me make those changes happen. Words cannot express how wonderful it has been being with you. Such wonderful, interested, and supporting group of individuals, families and co-workers. It is evident that you really care about your church, and with a humble heart, you really showed your care for me, your pastor. You were just as shocked as I was when word of my transfer was announced. But it is what it is and we go. Last week’s “Father’s Day” party was a beautiful event and I want to thank those who arranged it. Especially our Parish Staff, the Parish Council, the Committee, just to name a few. They did a splendid that I will remember always and to all of you, who took time from your busy day, to stop and bid me “farewell” - my appreciation and love to all of you. I am truly humbled by the attention you have given me over the past few weeks I can barely write this with dry eyes – but know, again, I thank each and every one of you for years that I will remember always. Lastly, you have been hurt by the removal of your pastor, I, too, have been hurt, by what I consider an unnecessary move. But we look at to- day’s message and I see that Jesus’ heals with compassion and love. We won’t forget our hurts, but in time they will be healed. You will always be in my heart and I pray God’s blessings on all of you. Father Tony LaTorre, Pastor
