Temporary Closure of Parish Hill and Chapel Road

TAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the County Council of Somerset have made an Order PROHIBITING ALL TRAFFIC from proceeding along Parish Hill and Chapel Road from Parish Hill; the junction with Chapel Road, northwards for 455m to Chapel Road; the junction with Parish Hill southwards for 80m, a total distance of 535 metres.

This order will enable Somerset Highways to carry out preparation and resurfacing works in this road.

The Order becomes effective on 13 July 2015 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to last for 15 days. While the closure is in operation an alternative route will be signed as detailed below.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

From the southern end of the closure proceed in a southerly direction along Chapel Road to the junction with Old London Road. Turn right and proceed in a westerly direction along Old London Road and The Avenue to the junction with the A359. Turn right and proceed in a north easterly direction along the A359 to the junction with Cary Road. Turn right and proceed in south easterly and south westerly directions along Cary Road and Parish Hill to the northern end of the closure, and vice versa.

Vehicles travelling eastwards along the A303 will be directed to the Wincanton exit and then westwards along the A303 to join the main diversion route.
