Entertaining story with a unique take on the character.By RickThis was my first real foray into the world of the Martian Manhunter since the animated series on television quite some time ago. I've been looking for another character away from the real DC flag-bearer types to get into and the unique nature of the Martian sounded fun. This comic did not disappoint. It is part of the New 52 relaunch of many of the DC characters, and had a great take on MM (for someone who is not familiar with his previous history at least). It contains the first 6 issues of MM. I can't say much about the story without ruining the major plot turns, but I really thought that the ideas in the writing were well-executed for an exciting story with quite the finale (forewarning, it's a cliffhanger). The art is great, and I compare it to the brilliant Court of Owls plot that was relaunched with in that it was excellent story telling with action and mystery combined. This story was quite compelling and I will be looking into MM Vol 2 in the near future.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I've always loved The Martian ManhunterBy BenI've always loved The Martian Manhunter, and this book, so far, fulfills everything I wanted to see from him (plus one shapeshift that made me giggle like a little schoolgirl). The plot wasn't as straight- forward as most other comics I have read, but everything does tie itself together nicely for the big cliff-hanger. Not that it's confusing...it's just...intricate and complex. The characters are all wonderful and they round out and fill out the book nicely (especially Biscuits - he's my favorite). Well written and easy to follow along. :)
