JUDICIAL RETENTION PLEBISCITE Per Article VIII, Section 3, of the DCBA By-Laws, the Judicial Selec- tion/Retention Committee is charged with organizing and completing a plebiscite for the retention of any Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County or any statewide appellate judicial office. During the judicial retention process, the role of the Committee is to list the names of each judicial retention candidate for Court of Common Pleas, Superior Court, Commonwealth Court and Supreme Court, and dissemi- nate that list to each member attorney along with a plebiscite ballot on which members can indicate “yes” or “no” for retention of a respective judicial candidate. The ballots are printed on security paper to avoid duplication. Upon receipt, the ballots are tabulated by the Committee, and the results are published as tabulated and reflect the total votes cast in each category and do not represent the opinion of the Committee or Board of Directors of the Association. The Judicial Selection/Retention Committee supports the concept of retention of judges. Judicial Retention Plebiscite ballots were mailed to the membership on August 23, 2021, and the following judges are standing for retention in the November election: Hon. Anne E. Covey, Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania Hon. Renee Cohn Jubelirer, Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania Hon. John T. Bender, Superior Court of Pennsylvania Hon. Mary Jane Bowes, Superior Court of Pennsylvania Hon. Spiros E. Angelos, Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County Hon. John P. Capuzzi, Sr., Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County Hon. Kathrynann W. Durham, Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County Hon. G. Michael Green, Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County Hon. Kevin F. Kelly, Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County

All ballots should be completed and returned to the Delaware County Bar Association no later than Friday, September 24, 2021, in order to be counted. Ballots received after that date will not be included in the plebiscite results. (If you do not receive a ballot in the mail for some reason, ballots will be available at the Delaware County Bar Association for you to complete.)

Thank you for your participation in this important process.

RISE TO THE OCCASION! THE DELAWARE COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES THE SESQUICENTENNIAL IN 2022! In anticipation of the 150th Anniversary of the Delaware County Bar Association, in 2022, DCBA President Karen Friel has announced the formation of a special committee to properly commemorate the ses- quicentennial. This committee, appropriately termed the DCBA 150th Anniversary Committee, will be responsible for planning, organizing, hosting and presenting various cultural, civil and Bar Association pro- grams, events, projects and activities. The Chairpersons for the Committee are Carrie A. Woody, Esquire, DCBA President Elect and Robert F. Kelly, Jr., Esquire, DCBA Past President, 2020. Throughout the year 2022, this Committee will be publishing and presenting historical perspectives and insights on the Bench and Bar, as well as working closely with community leaders and outside organizations, in furtherance of these goals. However, the plan- ning must begin now. It is anticipated that, for purposes of efficiency and organization, the 150th Anniversary Committee will immediately begin working in concert with, and will rely heavily upon, the efforts of existing sections and committees. This will be especially true of those sections and committees whose function and purpose relates directly to the planned events and projects. It is anticipated that the Guy G. deFuria American Inn of Court and the Women in Law Sections, as well as the Historical, Community Out- reach, Bench Bar, 1724 Courthouse, Law Day, the Memorial Resolu- tion Committees, and the other committees, will work closely with the 150th Anniversary Committee, to help develop relevant presentations, publications and projects. Our Association calls upon all of the members of the DCBA to rise to the occasion. Additionally, if you have any information, documen- tation, photographs or mementos, relating to the DCBA and its past, which you would like share with the Committee please do so by con- tacting Tracy Price, Marketing, E-mail [email protected] or Colleen M.
