FIAT-Sting + Shaggy
Contact: Diane Morgan Alyse Nagode Fiat 124 Spider Abarth Takes Starring Role Alongside Sting & Shaggy in “Gotta Get Back My Baby” Music Video November 9, 2018, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Fiat 124 Spider Abarth takes a starring role alongside Sting & Shaggy in the official music video for their new track “Gotta Get Back My Baby,” the latest single, co-produced by Teflon (Wyclef Jean, Fat Joe, Ruff Ryders) and Martin Kierszenbaum (Sting, Mylène Farmer, Lady Gaga), off their album "44/876," which has spent 17 weeks atop the Billboard Reggae chart. The official YouTube music video, which amassed over 2.3 million views in just a few days, was filmed in the vein of ‘80s and ‘90s buddy cop television series and movies, including “Miami Vice” and “Bad Boys,” and was directed by Michael Garcia. The video pairs Sting and Shaggy as two Miami detectives who convince their captain that they’re “going to need the Spider,” meaning his prized Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, as part of their South Beach stakeout for “the most dangerous woman in the country.” What could go wrong?! The FIAT brand is also supporting the video globally across its digital and social channels, including in the U.S on Instagram,Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. “We continue to strive for the unexpected in our marketing efforts across all FCA brands and, certainly here, the FIAT brand’s fun-spirited personality gives us the opportunity to be just a little bit more adventurous and playful in our approach with our music partners," said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of the FIAT Brand, FCA. -
“In the Mood”—Glenn Miller (1939) Added to the National Recording Registry: 2004 Essay by Cary O’Dell
“In the Mood”—Glenn Miller (1939) Added to the National Recording Registry: 2004 Essay by Cary O’Dell Glenn Miller Original release label “Sun Valley Serenade” Though Glenn Miller and His Orchestra’s well-known, robust and swinging hit “In the Mood” was recorded in 1939 (and was written even earlier), it has since come to symbolize the 1940s, World War II, and the entire Big Band Era. Its resounding success—becoming a hit twice, once in 1940 and again in 1943—and its frequent reprisal by other artists has solidified it as a time- traversing classic. Covered innumerable times, “In the Mood” has endured in two versions, its original instrumental (the specific recording added to the Registry in 2004) and a version with lyrics. The music was written (or written down) by Joe Garland, a Tin Pan Alley tunesmith who also composed “Leap Frog” for Les Brown and his band. The lyrics are by Andy Razaf who would also contribute the words to “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “Honeysuckle Rose.” For as much as it was an original work, “In the Mood” is also an amalgamation, a “mash-up” before the term was coined. It arrived at its creation via the mixture and integration of three or four different riffs from various earlier works. Its earliest elements can be found in “Clarinet Getaway,” from 1925, recorded by Jimmy O’Bryant, an Arkansas bandleader. For his Paramount label instrumental, O’Bryant was part of a four-person ensemble, featuring a clarinet (played by O’Bryant), a piano, coronet and washboard. Five years later, the jazz piece “Tar Paper Stomp” by Joseph “Wingy” Manone, from 1930, beget “In the Mood’s” signature musical phrase. -

Halie Loren : Butterfly Blue
Halie Loren : butterfly blue In 2015, Internationally-acclaimed Singer-songwriter Halie Loren’s critically-acclaimed newest (and eighth) album Butterfly Blue enjoyed such highlights as debuting at #1 on Billboard Japan’s jazz album chart and appearing on the Grammy Ballot. Touring in support of the album brought her around the world, to locales such as Japan (her seventh tour there), South Korea, Europe, and across the U.S. and Canada, including sold-out appearances at the Rochester International Jazz Festival, Cotton Club Tokyo, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and Jazz Alley (Seattle). Butterfly Blue has been described as Loren’s most sophisticated and mature release yet, and also her riskiest effort in terms of artistic reinvention and reach. This broad-yet-unified collection of twelve tracks, hailed by many critics and fans as her best yet, creates a soul-steeped journey through the expansive varieties of American music, with nuances of folk, balladry, jazz, and blues. Authenticity and connection is one of the primary keys to Loren’s artistic approach: whether it’s injecting the American Songbook with old-school soul or finding a familiar thread of nostalgia in newly-penned originals, no matter the language (her repertoire finds her singing in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and more), Loren finds ways to bridge cultures and genres in unlikely and always heart-felt ways. “Music creates greater connection with other people, connection to my purpose for existence,” Loren says. The imagery throughout Butterfly Blue speaks to Loren’s own artistic progress, as well as to her sixteen-year professional music career during which she’s journeyed from Alaskan childhood prodigy to jazzy chanteuse to globetrotting award-winning artist— images of strife, loss, cocoons of becoming, things fallen, but also flight and liberation and longing, a new-found sense of freedom, and a return to the vast wellspring of American song. -
