BOA Paper 9/2016 (For information on 15.7.2016) Updates on Programmes for July – August 2016 A. Radio

No. Date Items 1. 30 June - 21 July The New Hong Kongers’ Connection of Putonghua Channel launched a four-episode series, “All in One World” (四 海一家系列), reporting the journey of four study tours of local students and the youth. The tours covered Beijing, Shenzhen and Fujian to explore the economic development and business opportunities along the One Belt One Road. 2. 1 July R5 produced a special music video for the “Elderly Road Safety Campaign”. The video featured actress/opera artist Susan Tse (謝雪心) singing the message in opera. 3. 4 July R2 conducted the final for the “Young Politician: I Want To Be A Legislator Competition”(政壇新秀訓練班 我想 做議員大挑戰). 4. 10 July To boost the morale of students before announcement of the examination results, R2 organized the “Solar Project - DSE Cheer Up Gathering”(太陽計劃-DSE 放榜打氣大會). 5. 14 July R4 carried a live “Artist-in-Residence Recital” by the flutist Sibei Weng. She was the first Chinese flutist admitted to the Berliner Philhamoniker Orchester-Akademie to perform at major music festivals in Europe. 6. 17 July / 28 August Culture & Education Unit will organise two Children’s Sunday Summer Events including the “English Sing-Along” (英語暢唱遊)in July, and the “Eco Walk-Along”(生態暢唱遊)in August. 7. 22 & 24 July R2 will produce the “Solar Project 2016 – the 8th School Arts Ambassador-in-school Recognition Ceremony”(太陽 計劃 2016 - 第八屆校園藝術大使暨傑出藝術老師嘉許禮)to extend the outreach among schools. In the same week, it will organize a “Family Sports Day” (太陽計劃 2016 - 全家總動員運動會) to enhance family core values and promote better parent-children relationship.

1 No. Date Items 8. 26 July The Olympic Games / R1 will launch the “Rio Olympics Kick Off”(里約奧運)event in July. Mr. John Tsang, Financial Secretary, and Mr 6 - 21 August Timothy Fok, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of , will attend. R3 will produce a series of “Olympic Specials” daily in August to cover the Games. 9. 29 July Community Involvement Broadcasting Service will conduct a “Broadcasting Technique Workshop”(廣播技巧工作 坊)for Q15 and Q16 applicants to teach them the basic techniques and requirements of broadcasting. Public voting for these programme proposals will be open until 7 August. 10. 7 - 28 August Digital Audio Broadcasting will produce the “Audio Art – Tribute to Leslie Cheung”(光影無限 Like – 向張國榮致 敬)to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the idol’s birthday. Four of his iconic movies, namely《英雄本色》, 《倩女幽魂》,《胭脂扣》and《縱橫四海》, will be broadcast with audio description on 7, 14, 21 and 28 August respectively. 11. 8 August – Public Affairs Unit will produce a series of “Legislative Council Election Forums”(立法會選舉論壇)throughout 2 September August, including “Functional Constituencies Election”(功能組別選舉), “Super District Council Election”(超級 區議會選舉)and also “Geographical Constituencies Election”(地方選區選舉). 12. 11 & 21 August R2 will organize a “Ma On Shan Mine Revitalization Tour”(活化礦場大探索)for the ambassadors of Solar Project to understand the industrial, religious and country heritage, and natural experiences of the community. The closing finale for the “Solar Project 2016 – Youth Employment Dream Flight” (太陽計劃 2016 - 展翅青見夢飛 行) will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. 13. 29 August R4 will present “Doming Lam’s Piano Classics” (樂培培樂: 林樂培鋼琴作品展現), a special concert featuring works of the prominent local composer who will celebrate his 90th birthday this year.

No. Date Items 1. 1 July The Division live transmitted on RTHK TV 32 and provided pool feed signal to the media “The Flag Raising Ceremony to Celebrate the 19th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR of the People's Republic of China” (中華人民共和國香港特別行政區成立十九周年升旗儀式) and“Reception to Celebrate the 19th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR”(慶祝中華人民共和國香港特別行政區成立十九周年酒會).

2. July “World and Sports News Bulletins” commenced broadcast on RTHK TV 32 and TV 31 since June 2016. Daily telecast on RTHK TV 32 starts from 7:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., while daily telecast on RTHK TV 31 runs from 1:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Highlights of the Olympic Games will also be broadcast in August 2016. 3. July “Privacy Beyond Price II” (私隱何價 II ) (6 episodes x half hour) The programme will cover a range of topics on privacy issues, including privacy infringement for commercial gain; employee privacy versus employer benefits; how private, government and public organizations can prevent data leakage; the risks of data leakage when using electronic products or online devices; and how to strike a balance between public interest and the individual’s right to data privacy. 4. July “Doctor and You 2016” (醫生與你 2016) (13 episodes x one hour) This new series of health magazine programme will focus on childhood illnesses and health issues. Medical practitioners and experts will be invited to the programme to provide information on the preventive measures and treatments. 5. July “Pet Stories” (他和牠的故事) (6 episodes x half hour) These stories about pets and humans will also touch on the topics of animal cruelty, pet rescue and adoption. 6. July “Body Rocks!” (舞動全身) (6 episodes x half hour) The series is about three Hong Kong dancers and their journey of preparing for an international urban dance competition. They went to America, Japan and Korea to practice and to acquire the skills for choreographing a new piece of dance. To them, it is not only a quest for dance but a soul searching journey to find oneself.

July “Exploring the Edible Planet” (惜食地球人) (5 episodes x half hour) A native Hong Kong foodie sets out on a food adventure in Africa, North America, Europe and Asia, to meet radical thinkers and producers of food, who have been experimenting to turn today’s inedible into tomorrow’s delicacy as a sustainable food source. 8. July “64” (5 episodes x one hour) Based on the bestselling novel “64” written by the Japanese mystery writer Hideo Yokoyama, this suspense drama will portray a tense week at a police department shaken by two kidnapping cases It also reflects the contradiction and conflict between an organization and individuals. 9. July “Lifestyle Magazine 2016” (好好過生活) (9 episodes x half hour) As host of this talk show, famous musician Mark Lui will discuss with his guests the pleasure of living and the ways to appreciate everyday moments in life. 10. August “Legislative Council Election Platform 2016” (2016 立法會選舉: 聽其言) (4 episodes x one hour) The series is a platform for the candidates of the upcoming Legislative Council Election. 11. August “Within and Out” (也文也武) (8 episodes x half hour) The programme will talk about some physical exercises such as tai-chi and some sedentary activities such as Chinese calligraphy and their cultural implications. 12. August “The Hong Kong Music Video Award 2015” The award presentation concert to be organized by IFPI (Hong Kong Group) Limited will honour the outstanding music videos produced by local recording companies in various categories, with an aim to encourage and promote creativity and quality productions for the betterment of the local music industry. 13. August “Bridge the Gap” (4 episodes x one hour) The programme features Chris Bashinelli, a global explorer, United Nations Speaker, and accidental funnyman, on an introspective adventure across continents to pursue his real passion – using media to bridge intercultural gaps around the world.

4 No. Date Items 14. August “凝視香港三十秒” 10 short videos about Hong Kong, each of 30 seconds in duration produced by renowned producers and celebrities, will be broadcast on TV31 and RTHK's online platforms. Students of tertiary institutions will also be invited to participate in the project.

C. New Media Unit

No. Date Items 1. 25 July “Olympics 2016” special webpage will provide updated coverage, medals chart and related programmes on this international sporting event. 2. 15 August “2016 Legislative Council Election” special webpage will provide programmes about the Election, information of candidates and instant election results. 3. 15 August “凝視香港三十秒” , a new synergy project, will be kicked off with 10 short videos (30 seconds) about Hong Kong made by renowned producers and celebrities.
