The Central Statistics Organization (CSO) of Afghanistan, with technical support from UNFPA and ÀQDQFLDODVVLVWDQFHIURPWKHGRQRUVLVQRZZHOORQLWVZD\WRÀOOLQJLQWKLVVLJQLÀFDQWJDSDFURVVWKH country. Parwan is now the sixth province of Afghanistan for which statistical data on the condition of LWVSHRSOHGRZQWRWKHGLVWULFWOHYHOLVDYDLODEOH

2. INTRODUCTION

7KH6RFLR'HPRJUDSKLFDQG(FRQRPLF6XUYH\ 6'(6 ZDVLQLWLDWHGLQLQ%DPL\DQ3URYLQFHE\ WKH&HQWUDO6WDWLVWLFV2UJDQL]DWLRQ &62 RI$IJKDQLVWDQDQGLVQRZEHLQJUROOHGRXWWRRWKHUSURYLQFHV with technical support from UNFPA. The SDES in Parwan Province was carried out successfully in 6HSWHPEHUDVSDUWRIWKHIRXUWKEDWFKRISURYLQFHVWRJHWKHUZLWK.DSLVD3URYLQFH

This report presents data on the population characteristics, literacy, educational attainment, migration, HPSOR\PHQW IXQFWLRQDO GLIÀFXOW\ IHUWLOLW\ PRUWDOLW\ ELUWK UHJLVWUDWLRQ DQG OLYLQJ VWDWXV RI SDUHQWV GLVDJJUHJDWHGE\VH[DQGGLVWULFW,QIRUPDWLRQRQWKHKRXVHKROGDQGKRXVLQJFKDUDFWHULVWLFVLVDOVR LQFOXGHG7KHÀQGLQJVRIWKHUHSRUWZLOODLGGHYHORSPHQWSODQQHUVDQGSURJUDPPHLPSOHPHQWHUV HQDEOLQJWKHPWRGHYLVHVRXQGSROLFLHVDQGDSSURSULDWHSURJUDPPHVIRUWKHHIIHFWLYHGHOLYHU\RIEDVLF services to the people of Afghanistan.

To ensure that high quality data are collected, several layers of supervision and monitoring were done starting from the training of surveyors, survey enumeration to data processing.

3. OBJECTIVES 3.1 Evidence-Based Decision Making, Policy Making, Planning and Administration

6. DATA PROCESSING

(GLWLQJFRGLQJDQGGDWDHQWU\ZHUHGRQHLQ3DUZDQ$'DWD3URFHVVLQJ&HQWUH '3& ZDVHVWDEOLVKHG in Charikar and 190 data processors were recruited after given strict screening and extensive technical training. Computers, generator, furniture, heaters, an internet connection and other materials and utilities were provided.

7.4 MIGRATION

Figure 24 shows that Charikar had the largest percentage share of working children, at 30.2 percent of WKHSURYLQFLDOWRWDOIROORZHGE\%DJUDP SUHFHQW DQG6\DKJLUGL*KRUEDQG SHUFHQW 

Children who were not attending school were more likely to work than those attending school. Among FKLOGUHQDJHG²ZKRZHUHQRWDWWHQGLQJVFKRRODWWKHWLPHRIVXUYH\SHUFHQWZRUNHGDWDQ\WLPH GXULQJWKHPRQWKVEHIRUHWKHVXUYH\$PRQJWKRVHDWWHQGLQJVFKRROSHUFHQWZRUNHGGXULQJ WKHUHIHUHQFHSHULRG$PRQJER\VDJHG²ZKRZHUHQRWDWWHQGLQJVFKRROSHUFHQWZRUNHG during the reference year, compared to 5.1 percent of those who were in school.
