Tom is a passionate outdoorsman. Most Saturday mornings he is chasing cattle as a team roper at the Saddle & Sirloin Club of Los Angeles. He is a fly fishing and firearms enthusiast and has traveled all over the country in search of blue ribbon trout streams, usually with a fly rod that he built himself. Tom has been married to Eileen Callanan for 31 years and they have one son, Hunter, and two daughters, Katie and Momo.

ACHIEVEMENTS WHAT IS AN EAGLE SCOUT SERVICE PROJECT? Eagle Scout Awards 567 Merit Badges Earned 19,777 The Eagle Scout Service Project is the opportunity for a Scout, Varsity Scout, or qualified Venturer, at the Life rank in the Boy Scouts of America, to demonstrate leadership skills by performing a project of benefit to his community. Completing an Eagle Project is Arrow of Light Awards 642 the culmination of the Scout’s leadership training and it requires a significant effort on his/her part. The project must benefit an organization other than the BSA and it cannot be performed for an individual or a business or be commercial in nature. Completion COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS 181,734 of an Eagle Project is a requirement for a Scout to attain the Eagle Scout rank. Economic Impact $3.2 Million Evan Lucas Bowdle is the 2018 GLAAC Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award winner. His Eagle Scout Project was selected by the GLAAC Eagle Scout Association as the best example of what an Eagle Scout Service Project should exemplify, in how it is planned and executed. MEMBERSHIP AND YOUTH SERVED Registered Youth Members 18,399 Evan’s Eagle Project was the design and construction of a liturgical set and podium for Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Other Youth Served (Camps & Activities) 11,718 San Dimas, California. This project presented significant design and creation difficulties that Evan overcame through the planning Total Youth Served 30,117 process and execution of the project. For example, the staining of the wood required four steps and because of the toxicity of the materials, Evan found professionals willing to donate their time to the project using their spray booths and proper safety equipment. CAMPING Cub Scout Day Camp Attendance 299 The total value provided to our communities from the service hours of 2018 Eagle Scout Service Projects is over $1,500,000. The total Boy Scout Summer Camp Attendance 3,366 cost of the projects donated to our communities totals over $1,700,000. The overall value to communities in the Greater Los Angeles Weekend Camp Attendance 17,497 Area Council exceeds $3,200,000. Merit Badge Camp Attendance 1,169 On the following pages is a list of organizations that benefited from Eagle Scout Service Projects in 2018.
