7 The big mix development is 100 acres, "The Exchange At Gwinnett"

Fuqua’s big Gwinnett project expands with food hall, fashion hall and theater (Renderings) An entertainment-focused project planned for north Gwinnett County is expanding to in- clude a food hall, fashion hall and movie theater.

Atlanta-based Fuqua Development LLC just submitted plans to expand the mixed-use project called The Exchange at Gwinnett. The project now has grown to about 100 acres. It’s located at State Route 20 and Interstate 85, between the Mall of Georgia and Coolray Field, home of the Braves’ AAA affiliate.

The roughly $320 million project will feature large entertainment anchors including golf, carting and bowling. It will also have around 1,000 residential units and nearly 500,000 square feet of retail space, along with a hotel and office buildings.

The fashion hall would operate like a retail incubator, offering 500-square-foot stalls to small boutiques and other shops. The food hall would be about 28,000 square feet.

The Exchange at Gwinnett with its many food and entertainment offerings reflects the ongo- ing evolution of the retail industry. People today are more interested in spending money on experiences, rather than material items.

Pieper O’Brien Herr Architects is leading the project design.

Atlanta Business Chronicle first reported plans for the project last July. Rezoning for the proj- ect is expected to go for vote later this summer.
