KAWNEER AND CAP ALUMINIUM COMPLETE PRESTIGE WINDOW WALL CONTRACT FOR PENTLAND’S INTERNATIONAL HQ
Kawneer and CAP Aluminium of West Bromwich have recently completed a prestigious curtain walling and window contract for the Pentland Group’s new state-of-the-art international headquarters, located in Finchley, North London. Pentland is an international brand management group involved in the sports, outdoor and fashion markets. It owns world famous brands such as Speedo, Ellesse, Kickers, Mitre, Berghaus and Red or Dead.
Designed by GHM Rock Townsend with contractor design by TP Bennett, the new headquarters is a deliberate departure from the traditional UK office building. Overlooking a lake and conservation area, the Pentland Lakeside HQ is a stylish, contemporary building designed to provide an open, flexible and creative environment in which employees not only work, but also relax, eat, shop, workout and socialise.
The building incorporates materials such as naturally occurring brick, slate, and timber as well as expressed steel, glass and aluminium. The extensive use of glass allows a high level of natural light deep into the building. CAP Aluminium installed 86 Kawneer 500 Series fixed light windows of dimension 1800mm x 1800mm to the office area and 250m² of Kawneer’s 1203 slope glazing to the street and gallery roofs. Vents were also fitted into the street roof glazing. A facetted, glazed wall, featuring 1260m² of Kawneer’s 1202 zone drained curtain walling, provides uninterrupted views over the lake from the reception and restaurant.

Kawneer system because we felt it would achieve the design and performance criteria that we had set for the building within the established budget. While the fenestration contract was fairly straightforward, the geometry of the building was very complicated and so we paid particular attention to the interface details in relation to the relevant individual packages.”
All of the Kawneer aluminium elements have been fitted with high performance solar control glass, which is light blue in appearance externally and clear internally. The roof glazing is also laminated.
