SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE EXTREME RESULTS THE GAFFRIG STORY… In 1984, James Gaffrig, a long time family friend and my father’s partner on the Chicago Police force for more than 10 years, left the force armed with a talent for building quality, marine-capable speedometers and gauges, and the ambition to turn this talent into one of the most respected businesses in the boating industry. I began working with Jimmy when he opened his first shop in Chicago in 1984. It was here that he began manufacturing what are still known today to be the best gauges in the trade. Shortly after bringing these gauges to the forefront of the industry, Jimmy began engineering a series of Gaffrig mufflers, silencers, flame arrestors and throttle brackets. Soon, like Gaffrig gauges, these products proved to the boating industry that Gaffrig was synonomous with quality. For several years I worked closely with Jimmy, building the business through personal dedication and quality craftsmanship surpassed by no one. Sadly, in 1992, my friend and mentor, James Gaffrig, passed away. I purchased the business shortly there- after and continue to strive each day to operate and expand the Gaffrig line with the same passion set forth by James Gaffrig so many years ago. Our commitment in 1984 remains the same to this day...to be the best manufacturer of boating accessories, providing the serious performance boater with unsurpassed quality, performance, innovation and service. I am dedicated to continuously researching new product ideas, as well as ways to improve Gaffrig’s current product line. Most importantly, I listen to the feedback of you, my customers.

  • 5904 OXF LRR Summary DR4.Indd
Labour rights and sportswear production in Asia Summary Summary “We are all aware of the risk of unemployment in deciding to organise a union and we are prepared to face this risk...But at the same time we do look around us and think to ourselves: Why be unemployed? Why face the misery of it? Why not just put up with the exploitation from the managers? But then a long series of reasons not to organise start spreading out before us, the issues never end. The only way that the issues can end is if we build power among ourselves to change our conditions and treatment. And the only way we can really do this is by forming a union.” Marayah,1 30-year old woman sportswear worker dismissed from the Busana Prima Global factory in Indonesia for participating in a strike. While global sports brands generously sponsor the world’s top sporting teams and players, the women and men in Asia who make their goods struggle to meet their families’ basic needs. When these workers attempt to form unions to push for better conditions, they commonly suffer discrimination and often violence and dismissal. Nike pays USD $16 million (13 million Euro) a year to the Brazilian national football team and adidas pays USD $1.8 million (1.5 million Euro) per year to French player Zinedine Zidane. Meanwhile the Asian workers who make the football boots and other sports gear worn by players are paid as little as 47 cents Euro (US$0.60) per hour — 3.76 Euro (US$4.75) for a standard working day.

  • Antitrust and Competition
Antitrust and Competition Antitrust and C ompetiti on Overview Antitrust and Competition law can touch every aspect of a firm's business. It goes far beyond traditional concerns about price fixing and mergers and acquisitions. Today, antitrust and competition law affects product distribution practices, procurement, employee recruitment and compensation, restrictive covenants, intellectual property licensing and many other aspects of a firm's operations. Antitrust threats and opportunities An antitrust attack is often a major life event for a business. Government antitrust investigations (from federal, state and foreign enforcement agencies) can disrupt a firm's operations and sideline its key executives. Civil and criminal charges can frequently have severe consequences for the firm and its participating executives; and private damage claims can reach into the billions of dollars. Antitrust and competition issues can thus present concerns that go to the heart of the business enterprise. There is, however, a flip side. Just as antitrust and competition law can be a threat, it also provides opportunities. Sophisticated, well-counseled firms use antitrust offensively to protect their markets, open access to new ones and ensure that they are free to compete on a level playing field. Katten's Antitrust and Competition attorneys are adept at helping their clients avoid the legal risks and seize the opportunities presented by antitrust and competition laws. • 2021 Speedo Sectionals at Indianapolis Safety Plan
USA SWIMMING 2021SPRING SPEEDO SECTIONALS Central Zone Section 3 March 24 – 28 , 2021 SAFETY PLAN INTRODUCTION: In November of 2020, the partnership between Indiana Swimming and the Indiana University Natatorium resulted in the successful and safe hosting of two high-level swimming competitions The Return to the Nat and the Toyota U.S. Open Championships at the iconic Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis. The safety procedures and COVID-19 mitigations planned for and executed at those two events have continued to serve as models for aquatics facilities across the country about how to safely return to competition during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March, Indiana Swimming will again be partnering with the Indiana University Natatorium to host multiple events including the USA Swimming’s Speedo Sectionals from Wednesday afternoon, March 24, through Sunday, March 28. Realizing that hosting a meet using the pre-COVID-19 model will not be possible this March, many hours have been spent creating a new Speedo Sectionals hosting model that follows all the current guidelines of the CDC, State of Indiana, Marion County, the City of Indianapolis, Indiana University, and USA Swimming and will ensure the safety of all the participating athletes, coaches, staff members, and volunteers. This USA Swimming event will be conducted at two sites – the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis and at Elkhart Health & Aquatics in Elkhart, IN, thus reducing the number of athletes and coaches at a typical Sectional event by 50%. To reduce the number of hours that participants spend in the Natatorium, this meet will be swum in a timed-finals format with only three shorter sessions per day.
