  • ARRIVAL GUIDE Padova Is a Medieval Town Located About 20 Km
ARRIVAL GUIDE Padova is a medieval town located about 20 km far from Venice. The average temperature in Padova during January varies between 0 oC and 7 oC. How to reach Padova… The closest international airport to reach Padova is the Marco Polo Airport in Venice, which is connected to the city center by shuttle bus, bus or train (see info below). The international airports of Treviso and Verona are also very close to Padova city center and can be reached in the same way. Shuttle bus connection: A collective shuttle bus service taking you from/to the airport (Venice, Treviso and Verona airports), according to the expected flight arrival/departure, can be reserved online with Air Service. Service must be booked almost 24 hours in advance of your departure/arrival flight and will be paid on board or on- line. The average trip from/to Venice Airport takes about 50 minutes. The approximate cost for a one-way trip is about 32 Euros from Padova to Venice airport. (Reduced fare for more persons). Bus connection: From Venice Airport there is a regular coach service managed by SITA bus company. The trip takes about 75 minutes (the actual duration can vary according to the traffic conditions) and ends at Padua Coach Station in Piazzale Boschetti (it is near the train station). Tickets can be bought at the airport in the Arrivals Hall or on board (pick up points tips: exit the Arrivals Hall and turn right. At the rightmost stop you'll see a SITA sign from where you will take the bus).

  • City Centre Report 2019 Online Version.Indd
The Future of Norwich City Centre Some ideas and proposals to promote discussion and fresh thinking Published January 2019 Introduction ÂPrediction is very difficult, especially if it's about the futureÊ. While recognising the wisdom of these words from Nobel laureate Nils Bohr, the Norwich Society nevertheless believes it is worthwhile promoting discussion of some of the challenges and opportunities facing Norwich in the next decade or so. Every city evolves as technology advances, peopleÊs needs and desires change, and economies adjust. After all, it was not that long ago that the Norwich economy was primarily manufacturing; now it is reliant on the service industries and, increasingly, the higher education, science and creative sectors. Such changes cannot ă and should not ă be stopped. But it is worth considering some of the options for the future to try avoid mistakes and to maximise the benefits for local people. That is why the Norwich Society has published three reports in recent years aiming to prompt thought and debate about some key issues: these were Norwich 2035, presenting a vision for the future (published in 2015); Getting around in Norwich, looking at transport issues (2016); and New Transport Technologies, speculating about the impacts of autonomous and electric vehicles (2017). This report brings together some of this earlier work and outlines some ideas that the Norwich Society believes could contribute to maintaining the city centre as a magnet for people living in and around Norwich, for visitors, and for attracting the staff that the local economy will need if it is to thrive and grow.

  • The Impact of Tourism on the Venice Public Transportation System
The Impact of Tourism on the Venice Public Transportation System AN INTERACTIVE QUALIFYING PROJECT REPORT WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE Submitted to: Project Advisor: Fabio Carrera, WPI Professor Project Co-Advisor: John Zeugner, WPI Professor Submitted by: Marissa Capua Jessica Guyette Brian Hetherman Lindsay Hock Date: December 15, 2012 [email protected] http://sites.google.com/site/ve12trans 1 Abstract The number of tourists visiting the city of Venice every year has rapidly been increasing, verging on unsustainability, especially during the summer months. The public transportation network has become more congested. This project investigated the impacts of tourism on the public transportation system by collecting ridership data from the popular boat stops and comparing the counts to the number of cruise ships present for each day. The project concluded that cruise ship passengers increased public boat use by a factor of 2 at the least, and a factor of 4 at the most. These data may prove essential to further understanding how tourism, as well as the extensive public boat system, might be modified to insure the continuing health and prosperity of Venice. Please visit our project websites at: sites.google.com/site/ve12trans/ and www.venipedia.org 2 Acknowledgements The team would like to thank the following individuals for all of their help: First, we would like to express many thanks toward our advisors, Professor Fabio Carrera and Professor John Zeugner, for their assistance and guidance throughout this project. We would also like to thank Kyle Miller for all of his help gathering information, as well as Ben Lichtner for his collaboration with the smartphone application.
