"Since the extensions to Spring Cottage, the elbow of the path seems gradually to have been absorbed into its gardens and eventually a gate erected across the route. Access has never been denied to that section though using the route has increasingly felt obtrusive. Some years ago a gate was erected by the owners of Brockhampton Court at the narrowest point of the route and an intrusive bush/shrub made negotiating the path problematic. Two or three years ago this second gate was briefly padlocked, according to the owner because of 'criminal damage' to the bush/shrub.
