At Berklee, he was awarded the 2011 Best Jazz Performance Award for his work at university. He is an active member of the quar- tet of the American jazz violinist Maureen Choi, the Antonio Lizana Group, the Javier Colina Quartet, the Guillermo McGuill Quartet, Patax and María Toro among others. In 2015 he recorded his first solo album, “alba”, with the participation of some of the best Spanish jazz musicians, and was named best Spanish jazz album of 2015 by JazzForum magazine. He has recently recorded his second album as a leader in the “Samsara” category. In 2017 he received a nomination for best album of the year in the as produ- cer and arranger of the album “Obras son amores”, by the ex-Ketama Antonio Carmona. Born in Burgos, he started playing drums when he was 17. He began as a professional in different groups at the age of 18 in Burgos, and at the age of 20 he settled in Madrid where he currently lives. At the age of 22, he was awarded a prestigious Berklee College of Music scholarship in Boston, where he spent a year and then finished his higher studies in Jazz at the Amsterdan Conservatory in Holland. In these schools and attending more Jazz Workshops he is lucky enough to study with musicians like Ron Savage, Yorom Israel, Joe Hunt, Carlos Carli, Arturo Garcia. He also spent some time in New York studying with Ari Hoenig and Dan Weiss. A very versatile drummer, he takes part in many projects of all kinds of music, but he is mainly dedicated to the world of improvisation and jazz, working on his own mu- sic projects with some of the best musicians in Madrid, such as Fatbeat and Collado.
