International 14 World Championships In Conjunction with the Australian Championships

NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 No national prescriptions will apply. 1.3 RRS 40 will be deleted and replaced with: “Competitors shall wear personal flotation devices, except briefly while changing clothing or personal equipment. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices.” Note that code flag Y will not be displayed. 1.4 The event will be sailed under the RRS as changed by Appendix D. 1.5 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2 ADVERTISING In accordance with Regulation 20, boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the international 14 class with a current measurement certificate. 3.2 Eligible boats may enter the world championship by completing online registration found at www.I14worlds2020.com.au 3.3 Each competitor, both skipper and crew, must sign a waiver and Release of liability form before beginning official competition 3.4 The Teams Racing event, teams may be comprised of 5 boats of which not more than 4 may at any one race. Only boats that have completed all registration requirements will be allowed to compete. Entries will not be deemed valid until payment is received in full and confirmed as such by the Organising Authority 3.5 Parental authorization in writing is required for all competitors under 18 years of age as of 1st Jan 2020. 3.6 To be eligible for a placing in the Australian Championships the competitors must be members of the Australian I14 Body and carry Austrailian sail numbers througout the regatta.

4 FEES 4.1 Entry fee for the world championship shall be $1000 AU. The entry fee includes two tickets to presentation closing ceremony, Opening Ceremony and post race refreshments. A Late fee of $250 AU will be charged for entries received after the 1st of December, 2019. There will be no refunds after December 1st, 2019. Request for a refund prior to Dec 1,2019 due to a cancelation of entry will be charged an administrative fee of $100. Credit cards will be accepted for online registration. 4.2 The entry fee is $600 AU per team. No entries will be acepted after 1600Hrs on December 28, 2019.

5.2 The Team Racing will consist of a round robin format on the first day with each team racing every other team. The second day will consist of semi-finals followed by a finals series. 5.3 The World Championship will consist of 7 races with 1 race per day as scheduled. The Race Committee reserves the right to sail more than 1 race on any day.

6 MEASUREMENT AND INSPECTION 6.1 A Valid measurement certificate must be presented at sign in. Measurement checks will be made at sign in to assure compliance with the class rules, and may include, without limitation, , , weight, measurement bands, maximum pole extension, sail compliance stamps and foil inventory. Boats and equipment will be marked for compliance with class rules. 6.2 Additional measurement spot checks may be made at any time during the event.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing instructions will be made available after the 22nd December, 2019 at the Perth Club, and the regatta website: www.I14worlds2020.com.au.

8 RACING AREA AND COURSES 8.1 The racing area for the teams racing will be sailed in Matilda Bay, in the vicinity of Perth Dinghy Sailing Club. The course will be short “digital N” type or windward leeward. The marks will be described in the sailing instructions for the teams racing event. 8.2 The racing area for the world championships will be in Melville Waters West, on the swan river. The course and marks will be described in the sailing instructions for the world championship. The approximate course length will be 15nm.

9 PENALTY SYSTEM 9.1 For the world championships, RRS 44.1 is changed so that so that the two-turns penalty is replaced by the one-turn penalty. 9.2 An international Jury will be appointed for the world championships in accordance with RRS 91(b). Jury decisions will be final per RRS 70.5. 9.3 For the Team Racing event, RRS 44.1 is changed in accordance with Appendix D1.3

10 SCORING 10.1 For the teams Racing event, scoring will be in accordance with Appendix D 10.2 For the World championships, 7 races are scheduled. 3 races must be completed to constitute a series. When fewer than 5 races have been completed, each boat’s series score will be the total of her scores. When 5 or more races are completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

11 COMMUNICATIONS Except in an emergency a boat shall neither make nor receive radio or digital communications not available to all boats.

12 PRIZES 12.1 Perpetual prizes for the I14 Class World championship will be as follows: 12.1.1 First Place: The International 14 World Championship Trophy 12.1.2 Winner of the First Race: The Chris Benedict Trophy 12.1.3 First Female: The Glass Doll Trophy 12.1.4 First competitor over the age of 50 on the first day of competition: The Wind-Masters Trophy 12.2 The Perpetual Trophies listed above shall be returned at the expense of the holder to the venue of the next world championships. 12.3 Skipper and Crew placing 1st through to 10th in the World Championships 12.4 In keeping with tradition, no perpetual trophy will be awarded for the Team Racing Competition 12.5 Perpetual prizes for the Australian championship will be as follows: 12.5.1 Australian International 14 Championship Trophy to the overall winner 12.5.2 Second and Third overall 12.5.3 “Dulux Cup” to the handicap winner of the practice Race 12.5.4 1st, 2nd, 3rd over the line in each heat. 12.5.5 Handicap winner of each heat. 12.6 Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee and/or the Organizing Authority.

13 TEAM RACING SUPPORT BOATS 13.1 Team support boats must register with the organising Authority and display an identifying Flag, i.e national flags. 13.2 All support boats must remain 50 meters away from any or layline of the course from the warning signal until the last boat has finished, unless requested to enter by the race committee. 13.3 Teams whose support boats infringe on these restrictions will be subject to protest under RRS 41.

14 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

15 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with a valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 AU per incident or equivalent, Recommended $5,000,000.

16 TELEVISION AND PHOTOGRAPHERS RIGHTS Competitors give absolute right and permission for video footage or photographs of themselves or their boats to be published in any media for press, editorial or advertising purposes.

17 Social Events A schedule of any additional social and family activities will be posted online at www.perthsailing.org.au and www.i14worlds2020.com.au.
