What exactly is Underhill? Underhill is the magickal realm of the fae. Perhaps it’s a pocket dimension. Maybe it’s an entire universe. But whatever it is grants it access to Earth and the realms of myth and legend humanity has created. Once upon a time, fae and mortals walked faerie paths into and out of Underhill regularly, dealing with the repercussions of both directions of travel. Fae caught on Earth were treated poorly more often than not, while mortals who made it to Underhill encountered magickal places and dealt with fantastickal creatures, sometimes choosing not to return. The fae are creatures of whim and whimsy, equally capable of cruelty and kindness to visitors who stray into their world. Should they find you to be a friend of the fae, you will be protected. If that is not the case, beware their wrath. Though Underhill itself may be a worthy destination for many, it is less a place than an idea. Those who call it home find it shifting beneath their very feet with each thought and breath. And when others come to visit, Underhill seems to know it has new arrivals and begins to structure itself anew. There are a few pockets that never change, but everything else ebbs and flows. Unfortunately since Merlin closed the gates to Earth, Underhill has been a place at war. Relations once tense now weep like open sores; and even if things should heal, there will be scars. The wrath of the fae has been turned inward in a centuries-long battle for supremacy. The creatures once revered in humanity’s myths and legends are now angry and hardened, seeking revenge on those who locked them away.
