Dr Sreejith took his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras, and did his Post Doctoral ON CREATIVE DESK Fellowship from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in the area of Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology. He has formerly served as Principal of College of Engineering, Kuttanad and has held academic and administrative positions in various institutions within India and abroad. RSETnews 2019 5 GREEN BUILDINGS AND SUSTAINABLE ENGINEERING (GBSE 2019) The second edition of the International Conference on Green Buildings and Sustainable Engineering (GBSE 2019), organized by RSET in association with IGTE, University of Stuttgart, Germany was held on February 19 & 20, 2019. The theme for this year’s conference was Ecotechnological and Digital Solutions for Smart Cities. Preconference workshops were conducted on Green Mobility for Smart Cities, and Laurie Baker Approach. At the event organised by Can Serve Charitable Society, Sai Pallavi, who is also a medical student, said that the cancer patients need a willpower to overcome their condition and the society needs to take on the supportive role in giving them the moral strength to fight the disease. The walkathon aimed at providing help and other support to cancer patients was organised in association with Kochi Corporation and the Navy in which students from various city schools, colleges, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Aster Medcity participated Hibi Eden, MLA, presided over the function while K. V. Thomas, MP, was the chief guest. Sai Pallavi also joined in the Flash Mob held on the occasion by St. Teresa’s College students. The walkathon that began from the Durbar Hall Ground and went towards the Gandhi Square, Maharaja’s College, Law College, St. Teresa’s College and came back to the D.H. ground. The Au- dited Balance Sheet of the Foundation for the year 2014-15 is an integral part of this Report. The Year under Report has been truly a Biennale year for the Founda- tion. The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) was proud to host the second edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) under the curatorship of Jitish Kallat. The KBF’s mission is to draw from the rich tradition of public action and public engagement in Kerala, and build a new aesthetic that integrates both the past and the present. Kochi’s cosmopolitanism has been worn by generations of Keralites as a badge of honour. We invited Jitish to envisage a Biennale that responds to the environ- ment that hosts it, which led to ‘Whorled Explorations’, a non-linear and layered meditation on the world we inhabit today. In its second edition, KMB maintained its unique character by yet again choosing an artist as the curator celebrating its legacy as an artist-initiated project. Getting here has been anything but easy. For the first edition of the Biennale, Kerala Government financed it to the tune of Rs 9 Cr. For the Second Edition, similar substantial support was promised and Rs 3 Cr. has already been released.

    7.1.6 Quality Audits on Environment and Energy BEYOND THE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENTAL PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES 2017-18 100 PONDS PROJECT (18/03/2018) College NSS unit was an active partner in the project for the rejuvenation of the Ponds in Ernakulam which was initiated by the District Administration with the support of Cochin Shipyard Limited. The maintenance of ponds is essential to retain the ecological balance. On March 18 the volunteers cleaned the pond near the Durbar Hall ground and the activities were led by the District Collector. Pond cleaning under 100 Ponds Project GREEN THEVARA- SURVEY (22/03/2018) NSS Unit in association with Kerala Urban Transport Corporation (KURTC) surveyed the results of the green initiatives launched earlier in the year. The joint effort monitored the growth a saplings and issued more saplings. It is heartening to note that 90% of the saplings planted are surviving. Green Thevara- Survey BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATOIN RALLY (06/01/2018) The Department of Zoology conducted their annual Fest ‘Genysys 2k18’ by the name ‘Biomyriad’ from 4th to 6th January 2018. The fest which centred on the theme “Biodiversity” witnessed the participation of 12 colleges. A Biodiversity Conservation Rally was coordinated from Thevara Junction to the College. Biomyriad was inaugurated by Dr. Joe Kizhakoodan, Princpal Scientist, CMFRI, Chennai. A talk on ‘Understanding Lobsters’ was the prime session of the Fest. Intercollegiate competitions including quiz, debate, power point presentation, poster designing, treasure hunt, photography, face painting were the highlights of the fest. The residents of the Govt. old age home, Thevara were special invitees. Biodiversity Conservation Rally ENERGY CONSERVATION RALLY AND AWARENESS SEMINAR (14/12/2017) As part of observing the National Energy Conservation Day on December 18, the Physics Association conducted an Energy Conservation Rally.
