My Soul Space Walking with destiny Meet Anuradha Shenoy, Chief Manager (Digital) who finds new menaing in every walk of life.

“I love walking because it clears your mind, enriches the soul, takes away stress and opens up your eyes to a whole new world.” – Claudette Dudley

have been a regular walker, enjoying regular 4-5 km walks. Walking I brings me closer to myself, and connected to the universe besides an added benefit of keeping me fit. I had been introduced tothe many benefits of walking by both my grandfather and my father. My grandfather had lived to be 102 and had walked his talk. My father seldom had any health issues till he was 70 and walking was the only thing he did for physical fitness. I remember the long walks that I enjoyed with my father, where I had learnt a lot more about life than from Google and it’s likes. Since then, walking has become an innate part of my daily routine as I sail through life’s journey.

I joined BPCL as a software engineer from the then Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, Mumbai more than 2 decades ago. My career in the IT department of Mumbai Refinery and now in Kochi Refinery has given me ample opportunities to learn and leverage varying technologies for business value addition. I have enjoyed working on refinery specific IT projects such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) value-addition, in-house MES-SAP Interface deployment, Systems design and deployment of many applications across Refinery functions, Laboratory Information Management Systems Implementation across BPCL and Group Refineries. I have also participated in many corporate events including Mercurix. .

When I first heard of a 50 km in 24 hour Oxfam Trail walker event, I brushed it aside thinking that this was definitely not for me. However, a couple of friends insisted that it would help me stretch my physical and mental limits and bring me out of my comfort zone. I started the long and disciplined preparation for the long walk under the guidance of friends experienced in fitness coaching. Climbing up and down my 7 storey apartment, strength training, core exercises and change in diet in addition to regular 5 km walks on all days of the week. So, come December 2019, I was there on the pristine green lands of Karjat (a kind of hill station at an approximate distance of 70 km from Mumbai) along with my team and hundreds of other walking enthusiasts geared up for the long route ahead.

ature’s manifestations are oftentimes Ninconceivable and breathtaking. Unraveling these pristine beauties is one of the topmost aesthetic pleasures any nature lover or hiker could experience. One such manifestations is the Chokramudi peak- a place of stunning beauty. Located near Munnar and Bison valley, the peak is considered to be one of the highest altitudes in Kerala (around 7200ft above sea level).

I was very excited as I read the mail from BPCL- KR Adventure Sports Club about the trekking trip to Chokramudi. As the seats were limited, I decided to register myself quickly. With a gang of 35 adrenaline-filled adventurers of widely ranged age groups, the trip was finalized to happen on January 5th of 2020.

The journey started from KR gate at around 5.30 am in the morning. The sight of the slowly rising sun was a bliss to all the bright eyed and bushy tailed enthusiasts in the bus. The travel towards the base camp was filled with tea plantations and lush greenery, which was hinting about the wonderful sceneries waiting ahead. Having finished the breakfast on the way to the base camp, we started the trekking at 10am with full energy. The trekking path began with rocky mountain slopes and then gradually turned into the beautiful shola forests. With barely visible foot trails amidst the densely
