Annual Report – 2019-20 SCMS SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT (SSTM) ANNUAL REPORT – 2019-20 JUNE 2019 MBA Batch 15 : Students rejoined on June 3rd after completing their Project work. The Fourth semester University examinations commenced on June 21st and are proceeding on schedule. Batch 16 : Students rejoined on June 7th after completing their Organizational Study. The Second semester University examinations commenced on June 20th and are proceeding on schedule. Batch 17 : The Foundation Course commenced on June 19th. OTHER ACTIVITIES The NBA Expert team visited the campus on June 7th and 8th. The Curriculum workshop for Batch 16 Semester 3 was conducted in the last week of June. Dr. Rajeswari R,, conducted Life Motivation Training for Artisans of Handicrafts Industry in Palakkad District on 12th, 13th and 14th June 2019 as part of Craft Awareness Program, organised by Kairali, A Unit of Handicrafts Development Corporation of Kerala Ltd. PLACEMENT: Companies who visited the campus for MBA Batch 15 students in the month of June 2019: 1. SURVEY SPARROW 2. JK CEMENTS 3. BHARATI AXA LIFE INSURANCE 4. ERNST & YOUNG 5. LG ELECTRONICS INDIA PVT. LTD. 6. BEROE CONSULTING INDIA LTD Number of MBA Batch 15 students placed in June 2019 : 3 Total number. of MBA Batch 15 students placed till date : 54 MCA ACADEMICS: ● Govt of Kerala has given permission to start BCA programme in the campus with sanctioned strength of 40 seats. 20 seats under Management quota and remaining 20 seats will be filled by the University under CAP. Admission process is ongoing. It has been planned to recruit faculty to handle the classes for BCA. It is also proposed to establish new computer lab to accommodate the BCA students. ● Mahatma Gandhi University gave approval for direct entry into MCA for the unfilled seats of 2018 admission. Admission process is going on ● Admitted 60 students for IMCA Batch -6. MCA: ● Batch-14 Sem-2 classes suspended from 17th June to 21st June due to the declaration of Sem-1 University lab exams. Sem1 University Lab exams for the paper “C Programming” was conducted on 20th June and “Data Structures Lab” on 21st June respectively. ● Batch-13 Sem-5 University exams conducted from 7th June to 17th June. DDMCA & IMCA: ● IMCA B4 Sem-4 classes completed on 29th June. ● IMCA B5 Sem-2 University exams conducted from 17th June to 28th June. OTHER ACTIVITIES: PDP: PDP Sessions was given to DDMCA B2-Sem9 on 25th June. Programme Title is “Placement Oriented Programme – Skill Development for Aptitude Test – Series II” and the Resource Person is Mr.Prince from Konfidence Walk. CSR: DDMCA B3 Sem-7 students were contributing their service to the program named” Numma oonu “, an initiative started by the District administration in association with Petronet Ltd. Others: On 20th June, DDMCA B2-Sem9 Students of IMCA B4-S4 participated in the Program organized in the campus on the eve of International Yoga day. Minutes of Faculty Meeting held in the month of June 2019 recorded. BCOM 1. On behalf of NSS Unit of SSTM a programme was organized in connection with" World Environment Day" on 3rd June 2019. National service scheme introduced a plan for creating carry bags from useless and damaged clothes. 2. M.G. University Practical examination for III and IV Semester was held on 13th June 2019. 3. As part of Chai-pe-Charcha a session was held on How life experiences influence our lives? by Mr. Sanal Potty (Public Relation Officer – SCMS Group) on 14th June 2019. 4. Tally class for V semester students commenced from 17th June 2019 by Manvish Academy 2. Foundation Program in Banking and Finance – Certification Programme for III semester students commenced from 17th June 2019. 3. On behalf of NSS Unit of SSTM, "READING DAY" was celebrated on 19th June 2019. It was inaugurated by Fousiya Kalapatt (writer) and Nikitha Baby (Writer) 4. As part of International Yoga Day, a Practical session on yoga was conducted on 21th June 2019 by Dr. Ravi Vijay ( Yoga Agaryan) 5. A session on how to prepare for competitive exams was held on 17 and 19th June 2019. The session was handled by Mr. Anukrishnan , Faculty Subkiran Academy for final year B.Com students. 6. Inauguration of the academic year for the students of B.Com was held on 24th June 2019. 7. Induction for the first semester commenced from 25th June 2019. ECONOMICS Academics 1. Commencement of classes for Semester 5, 3 and 1 2. Planning and conduct of Foundation programme for newly joined students 3. Semester 5 students were shown documentary films in the area of Waste water recycling. This formed a part of their study in Environmental Economics. 4. Semester 3 students conducted seminars on topics taken from their course on Macro Economic Analysis. Non Academic Students participated for programmes conducted as a part of Women Cell activities. SIBB-R&D Academic Activities: ● Class for MSc 3 st Semester: Transgenic animals, IPR Bioethics paper :WTO, WPO, GATT, TRIPS, Biopiracy and bioprospecting, complete and incomplete specifications for patent applications. ● Classes for MSc 2nd Sem: paper VII Oncology ,Canrcinogenesis and major carcinogens, metastasis ● Seminar mentoring for Gayathri Nair ● Coordinated a an Invited lecture by Periyar River Keeper Shri VJ Jose and Inaguration of Nature club “ Naisargika” at SIBB R&D on 19th June , to commemorate World Environment Day . Also conducted a collage competition for the students themed “Innovative methods for pollution control” winners were chosen and prizes were awarded by Principal Dr Sashi Kumar. ● Along with the above event, conducted an exhibition of more than fifty medicinal plants, and started making a garden of medicinal plants at SIBB R&D which goes in sync with B.Sc Botany & Biotechnology curriculum . ● Preparative work for DBT training program (July15th to 31) was initiated. ● Classes for 2019 batch BSc and MSc courses started. Administrative activities: ● As suggested by Dr K P Ouseph, Specialist, Training and Development, SCMS, the faculties formed two groups and conducted discussions on measures to improve our performance and rectify difficulties. This will continue and we will meet again in the presence of Dr Ouseph. ● Three faculty meetings regarding a) coordination of the World Environment Day b)Subject and hours allotment for the new BSc and MSc semesters, balancing the teaching hours ● Managing leave recommendations of the staff ● Monitoring the purchase and maintenance documents ● Monitoring the records of facility management staff ● Recurrent problems regarding voltage tripping and power fluctuations are dealt with, almost on a daily basis, we do not have a permanent solution yet. Research Activities: ● Ms Devaki Suresh Joined as research internee under my supervision per office order from SCMS, for Goat Lactoferrin project. She has started working towards sequencing Jamanapari Goat LF. ● Published a research paper from Dr.MohanKumar’s University of Minnesota work, ‘Blood Outgrowth Endothelial Cells overexpressing eNOS mitigate pulmonary hypertension in rats: A unique carrier cell enabling autologous cell-based gene therapy” ,Translational Research ,April 2019 JULY 2019 MBA Batch 15 :. The Fourth Semester University examinations which commenced on June 21st were completed on schedule on July 16th. The Fourth Semester Viva Voce was held on the 23rd and 24th of July. Batch 16 : The Second Semester University examinations which commenced on July 20th were completed on schedule on July 10th. The Second Semester Viva Voce was held on July 16th. The Third Semester commenced on July 11th. The First Series Test of the Third Semester is scheduled to be held between July 29th and August 6th. Batch 17 : The First Semester commenced on July 15th. OTHER ACTIVITIES An Article titled "Assessing Impact of Demonetization on digital literacy of elderly people" by Dr.Radha P Thevannoor, Dr.Praveena K & Ms.Rinu Jayaprakash was published in International Journal of Management, Technology & Engineering (UGC listed) ,volume IX,Isuue VII Mr.Vignesh Karthik S.A. attended an FDP on Research methods and Data analysis conducted by Viswajyothi college of engineering, Cochin,10-12TH JULY2019. Dr. Deepa Pillai, Associate Professor, MBA , delivered a talk on the topic "Lively Classrooms" for Satchat held on 27th July 2019 at SCMS Campus, Muttom Ms. Devi S, Nair handled a training session for MBA Faculty members on Linways - OBE settings on 23rd July 2019. The PDP for MBA Batch 17 A is to be held between July 29th and August 3rd. PLACEMENT: Companies who visited the campus for MBA Batch 15 students in the month of July 2019: 1. CS TECHNOLOGIES 2. DDMCA & IMCA: ● IMCA B4 Sem-4 Model examinations were conducted from 1st to 5th July. Semester 5 classes commenced from 8thJuly. As Sem-4 University exams were declared to start from 26thJuly, the classes of sem 5 were suspended form 12thJuly. ● IMCA B4 Sem-4 University exams started from 26thJuly. ● IMCA B5-Sem-3 Classes started from 2nd July and the classes were suspended from 9th July, due to the declaration of University Lab examinations. Sem2 University lab exam of “C++ “ practicals were conducted on 11th and 12th of July. “ Data Structures “lab exams conducted on 15th and 16thJuly. Sem-3 classes resumes from 17th July. ● IMCA Batch 6 Inauguration ceremony conducted on 1stJuly. The orientation programme was conducted from 2ndJuly to 19thJuly, followed by the course evaluation on 22nd and 23rd July. ● IMCA Batch 6 regular classes started form 24th July.

It's been customary for our department to release an e-magazine once every semester. This initiative is an excellent way to prove and exhibit the skills of the staff and the students in technology and artistic capabilities. I really hope this would kindle a spark in the minds of the students who are yet to contribute towards the progress of the initiative in the upcoming years. I extend my sincere thanks to the people who have contributed to this publication to enhance its perfection and beauty through their articles, drawings and photography.
