Travel Itinerary

Oct 4 Alpine adventure Hiking time: approx. 2.5 Stunden

Individual arrival in Locarno.

Meet your guide at the hotel or train station of Locarno. Journey by public trans- port to Fusio.

Fusio is the starting point of this excursion to the “Capanna Cristallina” through a section of the valley (duration ca. 2h30). As well as a spectacular natural land- scape, this walk offers an opportunity to discover works of art and the valley's rich cultural heritage. A pleasant footpath leads in northerly direction from the lake along the river up to the Naret Pass. From here the Cristallina hut is already visible. 17h30 ca. arrival at the Capanna Cristallina, Altitude 2575 m s / m.

Oct 5 Glacier world, waterfalls and culture Individual breakfast at the hut and check-out.

08h00 Excursion from the Cristallina hut to San Carlo (duration 3h15). the mighty Basodino Glacier gradually comes into view, a glittering white peak against the backdrop of a granite and gneiss landscape. Crystal clear, turquoise-green or ice- blue lakes in a majestic High Alpine world, surrounded by granite massifs and gla- ciers.

11h45ca. Continuation of the escursion to Sonlerto and then to Foroglio. A spectacular sight is the Foroglio Water- fall rushing down a 80 meter high rock into the Val Calnegia, which can be reached from Foroglio. Like in other al- pine valleys, the history of the Bavona valley has been greatly shaped by the seasonal movements of its population. In the Bavona valley you can still clearly see the effects of this custom, along with the traces left by man.

14h58 Transfer from Cavergno to Locarno

15h55 Arrival in Locarno and visit of the old town surrounded by narrow streets and little shops with handicrafts, attractive old buildings and inviting cafés in- cluding the Piazza Grande which is the largest piazza in all of Switzerland and hosts internationally known events, like the Film Festival of Locarno in August. Option: excursion to Cardada.

18h04 Departure from Locarno to Ascona by bus.

19h30 Dinner at the restaurant x in Ascona.

21h02 Departure from Ascona to Bellinzona. Check-in at the Hotel Internazionale***

Individual breakfast at the hotel and check-out.

08h00 Meet your guide, Ms. XX, at the hotel reception. You will visit the three UNESCO castles of Bellinzona, Castel Grande, Montebello, and Sasso Corbaro.

09h27 Departure from Bellinzona train station to Rivera:

09h39 Arrival in Rivera train station and go to the The Monte Tamaro for the Tamaro-Lema hike, one of the most beautiful hikes in the whole pre-alpine region.

12h00 Lunch bag at the Mount Tamaro – Lema.

15h00ca. Transfer from Miglieglia to Lugano

16h00 Arrival in Lugano. Transfer to the city center and visit of the wine festival.

19h00 ca. Dinner in one of the numerous grottini ope- rated by local companies which will offer typical Ti- cinese specialties, such as polenta with stew or beans and mortadella or roast pork, risotto, minestrone, gnocchi and many other ex- quisite local delights. The Autumn festival concludes the open-air events with a large fair in the pedestrian zone of Lugano.

Oct 7 Canyoning - day of adventure

08h00 Individual breakfast at the hotel.

08h35 Departure from Bellinzona to Cresciano by bus:

Canyoning in Ticino. That is following a stream through a narrow gorge, a great water activity with a high fun factor. We use the stream to follow the gorge: we slide down beautiful rock slides, swim through clear pools, jump into the water (optional) and abseil down water- falls. No experience required.

11h02 Departure from Cresciano to Bellinzona :

11h23 Arrival in Bellinzona Hotel Internazionale, time to have a shower at the ho- tel before having lunch at the Restaurant Casa del Popolo (besides de Hotel Inter- nazionale) at around 12h15.

13h36 or 14h06 Departure from Bellinzona Train Station to Lucerne: After lunch departure to Lucerne.
