BERNADETTE PARISH 7 April 21, 7240 West 12th Avenue 2019 Lakewood, Colorado 80214-4712 Saint Bernadette Catholic Parish, in the heart of Lakewood, Colorado, is an inclusive Christian community, committed to the teaching of Jesus Christ. We are strengthened by the Word of God and the Sacraments, guided by the Holy Spirit, and inspired by our patronesses the Blessed Mary, Saint Bernadette Soubirous, and Saint . We aspire to live our faith through the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy and follow our Lord’s command to call all to discipleship.

My Dear St. Bernadette Family, Easter is a celebration of life! Always celebrated in the Spring, there are signs all around us of the earth returning to the green growth of Summer. We have been doing our Lenten prayer and good works giving ourselves new growth in our relationship with God and neighbor. And, this year, here at St. Bernadette’s we are celebrating in a renewed worship space. Our church is so much more than just a better place to gather and pray, but rather it sings of Easter every Sunday. The sparkle of a shiny floor and an altar that is elevated give glory to God and celebrate the Resurrection in beautiful ways. The hard work and sacrifices of so many to make this church happen are reminiscent of the work of Lent that has born fruit in our lives and community. This church is literally the work of our hands. Now, the work of the church is in our hands as well. The ministries of St. Bernadette Parish belong to all of us. Please look for a way to share your time and talent as we go forward ministering God’s love. So, welcome all to St. Bernadette’s and Happy Easter! May Christ’s Resurrection give to you renewed hope and joy and lead you to raise your hands and voices to praise our God. “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!” With love, Fr. Tom

For nearly three months, we have celebrated our liturgies in the gym, if you will, exile into Egypt, and this past week have come home from the desert to our promised land. As with all journeys, we have seen our share of trials and tribulations but also our coming together in those trials to bear witness to our strengths and joys as a community. Looking around us today in this beautifully remodeled space, we see the fruits of our labor, the Work of Our Hands, the very definition of Liturgy. Our liturgy is ALIVE, beyond the Source and Summit of our Mass but in the People, who labored to create this space. Liturgy is ALIVE in the many ministries of our parish, liturgical, outreach and growing in our Faith. As we celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we grow deeper in our knowledge of His great love for us. As we grow in our knowledge, we grow in our love for Him. As we grow more deeply in love with Him we seek to serve Him. How do we express such love for the One who would die on a cross for us? We serve. We serve in our families, our neighborhoods, our faith community. It is with open arms and open hearts that we welcome you and invite you to share your love with us as we continue our journey towards Him, in knowledge, love and service. “Christ has no body now but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which HE looks compassion on this world. Yours, the feet with which He walks to do good. Yours are the hands with which HE blesses all the World. You are His body.” St. Teresa of Avila Shalom.
